Team Glazer Hugs Donald Penn
July 31st, 2010Not only is Team Glazer writing checks faster than Joe does on the first of the month, Team Glazer seems to be loving every minute of it.
What’s going on?
Brighthouse Network, the same outfit that shamefully denies its viewers NFL Network, turned out an impressive video from Bucs camp (no surprise they don’t offer embed codes) that includes footage of Joel and Bryan Glazer hugging Donald Penn. Great stuff.
There’s also plenty of shots of the svelte Penn in action.
Perhaps it is true that “money will never be an issue” when building the Bucs into a winner?
These are confusing times for Bucs fans.

actually not confusing times at all for those of us that didnt jump off the end of the earth when the team chose not to go buck wild during this years shallow free agent pool.

Ah you can cut the false hope with a knife…………………..

It would have been the dumbest move of all time had they let an experienced LT sit out of training camp, despite what that jimbuc claimed all along.
I’m sure glad that jimmy doesn’t give the glazers guidance!!!

Give the Glazers’ credit it was a smart business move. You don’t want your franchise QB being crushed from the blind side. Penn has proved to be a good LT, who deserved the raise. I feel both sides did what they had to do. In the end, both sides came out winners.

WE GOT DONALD PENN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WE GOT DONALD PENN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
uh, wasn’t he on the 2009 team that went 3-13?
No never mind, WE GOT DONALD PENN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
July 31st, 2010 at 8:56 pm
Hell yeah….I’m so glad he’s locked up!
And didn’t I read somewhere that he’s back down to 325 lbs??? That’s pretty good considering he was what? 370 or something?? Donald Penn loves the Buccaneers and is committed to helping this team win!

Joe, Ira kauffffman reported that there were a “few thousand” fans on hand today to watch the practice. You were there. How many fans do you think were there? Not that I don’t believe Ira, but well, ….
July 31st, 2010 at 9:04 pm
you’re right eric…we shouldn’t have signed him…

Joe here,
Tampa2 – It was a packed house. Almost too packed. Concessions ran out of drinks multiple times and had to get reinforcements. Joe doesn’t get why they didn’t use last year’s format, which was more spread out, but it is what it is. Definitely a few thousand, or whatever capacity was.
July 31st, 2010 at 9:20 pm
Joe how many autographed calenders did you get?
July 31st, 2010 at 9:23 pm
Any truth to the rumor that the Bucs are going to start a Donald Penn weight loss clinic?
July 31st, 2010 at 10:18 pm
Javier,
you and your split personality RahDom sure are fixated with what JimBuc says or posts. You should look at some of your previous posts before you start worrying about anyone else.

Tampa 2,
I know how hard it is on you when everything is going well. Even the amount of people at practice is a conspiracy theory. It’s killing you to know that even Eric and the Captain are agreeing on some things. This is an exciting time of year for all of us hard core Bucs fans. (Even Eric) You are the perfect example of misery loves company. I’ll bet that the captain has a plank you can walk if you needed one that is…

Mr. Lucky:
Joe doesn’t do autographs.
July 31st, 2010 at 11:34 pm
Where did they get the $100 Mil from?
August 1st, 2010 at 12:39 am
Under the sofa cushion.

Hey Tampa 2, maybe they got their money back from Madoff!

Check this out:
Penn, who’s played under one-year contracts the past three seasons, said he made a call to his agent a few days ago and pushed for a resolution to his dispute.
“I said: Let’s get it done. Let’s make some sacrifices if we need to. … It wasn’t about financial security. I wanted longevity, a commitment,” Penn said. “That’s what I got.”

GotBBucs, and BucNJim- good post ant spot on!! I haven’t seen anything confusing this off season, other than amongst the fans! The Glazers have done what I knew they would! What they believe is the right moves to build a consistant SuperBowl contender! Ownership obsessed with winning is the best thing going for the Team! And believe me, we have that! I, and alot of NFL insiders, believe Mark Dominnick is a fast rising GM. Has all the players signed and in camp by 1st day! I knew all of those guys would do their job. Never a doubt. Now comes the mystery. Can Raheem coach this young team? I think so, based on what players are saying, but we won’t know til the season starts. I am excited about both the new offensive and defensive schemes. I think the team is improved by the schemes as much as by the new talent! Now it’s all on Raheem. I hope he’s as good as the players believe he is ! Yup, no confusion up to this point ! Now is when the mystery part of the equation starts

Patrick, I’m glad they signed Penn! I know you are too! I’ve never seen anyone as focused in the OL – and that’s smart ! It all starts or ends with the Line, and Donald makes ours a lot better! As a former OT, it’s nice to see that some people appreciate how important ” the big guys” job really is!

It’s pretty said when management has to be dragged kicking and screaming to sign the best LT they’ve had since paul Gruber, and the man that will have to protect the Franchise’s back ( Josh Freeman )
This should have been a no-brainer 3 months ago.
Thank god it is done , though…
August 1st, 2010 at 9:32 am
MushFace — McNeil is still unsigned for the Chargers and he is a two-time PB player protecting an established franchise QB. There are two sides to any negotiations. The Bucs gave in some and, as the quote above indicates, Penn gave in some. Have you considered that Penn was part of the problem? NO, because you hate the Bucs.
August 1st, 2010 at 9:32 am
By the way, the reports were that Penn was asking for $10 mil per year.
August 1st, 2010 at 9:38 am
It is kinda like Paul Gruber.
They signed Gruber after extensive posturing and negotiation, and then kept right on losing.
August 1st, 2010 at 9:47 am
Personally, I am glad they finally cast aside the totally bogus CBA excuse and signed the guy.
August 1st, 2010 at 10:09 am
I don’t hate the Bucs JimBuc , I love them.
That’s why it pisses me off so much when they do stupid sh*t. You, on the other hand, were ready to defend the team if they didn’t sign Penn , and defend them if the did , or defend them if they did something in between. It’s pathetic really.
Sorry, but we just can’t all all be sheep like you.

Hey look, JimTard the absolute moron crawled out of his fetal position.
JimTard, for all the nicknames you and timmy give to eveyone else who you don’t agree with, you deserve every name in the book to be called to you you moron.
Your pompous personality is downright sickening loser.
Furthermore you have been consistently wrong. Everything you spew is meaningless.
IDIOT!

Hey Zero – don’t hold back those feelings…. LOL
August 1st, 2010 at 12:27 pm
Mushy, there is hope for you yet:) but, in JimBucs defense(ugh, first time for everything) , he never said we didn’t need Penn. He just repeatedly said(REPEATLY) that Penn would play this year for the Bucs- one way or the other. Ultimately, he was right. Zeroblahblah- I don’t know if there is any hope for you, but at least you’ve stopped writing that stupid” I have zero expectations” crap you had on your first 20 post! Probably due to that tremendous beat down I dropped on ya!:) I think everyone is breathing a little easier now! Like I’ve said since my first Post, the Glazers are the key here. And they will not accept losing! They take this teams success very personally, like a reflection on them. That’s both Rare, and a good thing for Buc fans! None of us know how Raheem is gonna do this year, but if it isn’t improving pretty quick, he won’t be back! Ask Dungy and Gruden, these guys don’t screw around, and they don’t like excuses! They pplan to make some more big moves before the season starts, that most of us will be excited about! As long as ownership is committed to winning, all it requires from the fans us a Lil patience, and a wee bit of trust. Now that most of the “sky is falling!” crowd has simmered down, we can start to really see what this coach and team is really capable of. Hopefully, they are gonna surprise alot of us!

Great news, I was wrong on this one. I thought Penn wopuld show and play, but would be given the extension during the season.
