Let’s See What Dotson, Fulton And Lee Can Do
July 28th, 2010As the sobering reality of a Bucs preseason without Donald Penn to protect Josh Freeman sets in, Mark Dominik offered some soothing words for Bucs fans, so documented The Mad Twitterer, of the St. Pete Times.
Dominik reminds Bucs fans that there’s likely a great battle to begin at left tackle come Saturday’s first day in pads at training camp.
“Penn still is considerd a teammate and a member of our football team and I hope there is a resolution sooner rather than later. But we’re looking forward to seeing what Dotson, Xavier Fulton and James Lee can do. It’s an open competition.”
See, wasn’t that soothing?
Joe’s just not sure how Freeman can develop like he needs to in preseason games without a legitimate left tackle. Hopefully, it won’t get that far.
July 28th, 2010 at 1:06 pm
Joe, shouldn’t you post Penn’s recent comments?
July 28th, 2010 at 1:08 pm
I’m soothed…
and not worried a bit about the LT position this season.
1. Penn shows up.
or
2. Someone else takes the snaps.
Some act like Freeman is made of glass…

Point me to the closest bridge!!
July 28th, 2010 at 1:21 pm
I dont feel sorry for Penn at all……. 6 months of work for $3 million would be amazing………. Now saying that I understand what a short career NFL players have but if Penn was smart he would take this pay check and then hit free agency next year and get a big contract from somewhere
July 28th, 2010 at 1:30 pm
I’ve heard of Fulton and Dotson, but who is Lee? Is he just some scrub they are throwing in mix? Really, its between Fulton and Dotson right?
July 28th, 2010 at 1:39 pm
Coach Mangurian’s assessment of Lee
“…James [Lee] is a guy that has been in the program and understands the system. His consistency level is obviously an issue with us. He’s got to do better in that regard. His value clearly lies in his flexibility and his ability to do different things. You hope these young guys come up and challenge him and it becomes more than just an assignment game – it becomes an execution game. Right now he has the advantage because he knows the assignments, but hopefully with the system solidified now and everybody learning it to where the abilities of our guys can come out. You just can’t make the team knowing your assignments. You don’t win championships that way.” …
July 28th, 2010 at 1:47 pm
Thx Rocket.
I hope Mangurian knows what he is doing. Wasn’t he brought in to install the zone blocking scheme? I guess he is versatile enough to coach the power scheme as well. Lets hope so.

Joe here,
JimBuc – THere’s nothing interesting or enlightening about Penn’s comments. He loves the team. He loves being a Buccaneer. He loves the fans. He hates getting screwed, in his opinion, by the CBA situation.
He’s making the same comments he did around FanFest, so there’s no need to republish. Although you can post those at JimBucFan.com.
July 28th, 2010 at 2:07 pm
Gary, My thoughts too.

It may be a “Great Battle”, but it’s between ‘C’ talent players. We need ‘A’ players.

Adim said “Although you can post those at JimBucFan.com.”
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He has posted them… several times. lol!

Joe, you can find Penn’s comments, which are not the same as he made at FanFest, on other websites, so I don’t think I need start my own website just to post Penn’s comment. Maybe your point was that I need to start my own website if I want to comment on Penn’s comments? Fair enough. You make the rules Joe.
July 28th, 2010 at 4:39 pm
bucfanjeff-there are no “A” players on our offensive line. Penn is a C player.
July 28th, 2010 at 5:19 pm
Go to TopDoggieFan.com we have video of the Bucs winning the 2010 SuperBowl. Errr I mean good post Joe.
July 28th, 2010 at 5:24 pm
Jim does this mean you are starting your own website?
Will it mean that you would also stop making homer comments here?
Don’t answer, just go bro. Just go.
July 28th, 2010 at 5:26 pm
Jim please, just do it bro.

July 28th, 2010 at 5:28 pm
LOL @ JImBuc begging Joe to become a Kool-Aid Drinking homer like he is , and pretend that everything is rosy with the Donald Penn situation.
HAHAHA!
Keep begging Jim , but Joe is never going to be an shameless apologist like you.
July 28th, 2010 at 6:14 pm
hell, Joe, as many comments as Jimbuc makes on every story, I thought mabe this was his site! jimbuc can’t make his own website anyway. He can’t take his head out of Brian Glazer’s arse long enough to make one.
July 28th, 2010 at 6:22 pm
Love it. I am getting called out by Javier —– who just posted a comment that Morris did NOT improve the defense when he took over for Bates because under Morris the Bucs only played “back-up” QBs and those “back-up” QBs all threw long passes on Morris’s defense as well. Javier’s “proof” for his theory: statistics from THE GREEN BAY GAME — when . . uh . . .um . . .Bates was still the DC . . . ugh . . . and when . . . uh . . .um Aaron Rodgers was the QB). 🙂
I am also getting called out by MushFace who is too stupid to even understand the Penn situation, but smart enough (or scared enough) to not enter into a bet with me as to whether Penn plays this season. The bet: if Penn plays MushFace leaves forever. MushFace, you are a man of few intelligible words, but a man of cowardly conviction nonetheless. 🙂
Talk about theater of the absurd. Quite a place we have here.
July 28th, 2010 at 6:24 pm
Tampa2 — also calling me out. Classic, a couple dumb guys and a dumb guy who believes the Glazers were Madoff victims. LMAO.
Tampa2, I do have my own website. It is financed by Madoff, so technically it is financed by the Glazers. 🙂
July 28th, 2010 at 6:32 pm
Come on, get real. Penn is going to play this season. There is NO WAY he’s going to let himself be an RFA again. The only question is when he’ll report and sign his tender:
A) For the first training camp practice
B) Sometime during training camp
C) By the season opener
D) By the bye week
E) By Game 10
No more being wishy-washy JimBuc, which is it going to be? Put your money where your mouth is.
July 28th, 2010 at 7:07 pm
Louie — I have already said by the season opener because I don’t see him giving up the huge game check.
July 28th, 2010 at 7:32 pm
JimBuc, this is one of those times I have to be on your side. Although Mushy says some funny $h!t at times. The other guy is …..
July 28th, 2010 at 8:04 pm
I never said Penn wouldn’t play , sh*t for brains . I said he is going to hold out of camp , start the season out of football shape ( it’s impossible to be in football shape if you miss camp ) , and then after this season bolt to a team that actually rewards players who perform with the money they’ve earned.
We will be left with nothing but Dotson’s sorry ass, and a Josh Freeman with several concussions from blind-side collisions. Meanwhile , you will still be walking around telling everyone the Glazer’s 10 year blueprint is going ahead just as planned. Ha !
July 28th, 2010 at 8:17 pm
MushFace — your stupidity is not worth responding.
July 28th, 2010 at 8:25 pm
I’ll take B) Sometime during training camp. In order for him to prove his worth (whether it be the Bucs or some other team) He’ll have to start from day one. No one anywhere will ever give him a long term contract if he shows up mid season out of game shape.
July 28th, 2010 at 8:48 pm
@Radio Mushmouth
You’re right about Dotson. Freeman’s career will be ruined if the stubborn idiots at One Buc Place don’t watch what they’re doing.
July 28th, 2010 at 9:24 pm
The question I have is how the hell can you throw away $5 or $7 million on Leftwich like they did, or not to mention Clayhands, and not be willing to give Penn a bump just to get through the Season.
“But we’re looking forward to seeing what Dotson, Xavier Fulton and James Lee can do. It’s an open competition.”
Hey Dumbnik, how bout you rephrase that??? More like “But we’re looking forward to seeing if Dotson, Fulton, or Lee can save Freeman.” If you want to risk Freeman’s future, then fine… play one of these guys.
No, duh. We know you’re “looking forward” to seeing what they can do. If Ryan Leaf was a backup QB on the Bucs, you’d be looking forward to seeing him play also!! James Lee, a guy that was signed off the practice squad during last season, hasn’t done anything. Dotson is an undrafted free agent that hardly even has any football experience. It’s pretty bad when an “NFL” player has to admit they’re not a starting a left tackle. That’s the first time I’ve heard any one say something like that. But hey, he’s probably right! Fulton hasn’t proven himself at all. Freeman is in his 2nd season as a QB. This year is very important for him and he doesn’t need this crap.
July 28th, 2010 at 9:28 pm
Patrick — Penn does not want a “bump just to get through the season.” I believe the tender would mke him the highest paid lineman for the season. He wants a long-term deal.
July 28th, 2010 at 9:32 pm
Why is everyone so obtuse when it comes to a comment like Doms? What do you think Dom is going to say,” Uh, we have absolutely no plan and no alternative to Penn. It has to be Penn and without him we are just going to collapse.” How’s that?
My goodness — think people. Why would Dom even give any statement to the press on the Penn issue? Has anyone here ever negotiated or postured? Geeeeesssshhh.
July 28th, 2010 at 9:53 pm
Patrick said “The question I have is how the hell can you throw away $5 or $7 million on Leftwich like they did, or not to mention Clayhands, and not be willing to give Penn a bump just to get through the Season.”
Hey Patrick I agree with what you said 100% man. How in the world can they drop coin on other players like they did last season but not give Penn a few more bucks, money he deserves. Sure he may not be the best LT in the league, but he sure is starting caliber, and more importantly, has a couple years of experience, something the back ups clearly lack.
Patrick, how much do you think Penn is asking for? How long do you think it will be before he signs? Do you think the Bucs will make an actual mid to long term deal with him this week?
Thanks Patrick! And don’t let the Raheem apologists let you down my friend. They clearly have an agenda, even at this state of the franchise when hardly NO ONE has any real expectations of the Buccaneers this year.
July 28th, 2010 at 10:18 pm
Mushforbrains, you are the stupidest s.o.b on this site. Or any other site. Or pretty much anywhere. You are an idiot of unequaled depths. At least JimBuc is a BucFan. He isn’t secretly hoping his fails, to achieve some dumbass secret agenda. Like a mancrush on Gruden, or wanting to see Coach Morris fail. Steve White called that perfectly earlier this week. There are alot of people here hoping the Bucs Fail. That isn’t an issue with JimBuc. And that automatically gives him moral High ground over you haters! Donald Penn is the hottest topic on this site. I too would like to hear his recent quotes, especially if he’s saying he’s excited about playing this year.
July 28th, 2010 at 10:26 pm
And by the way, Dotson played in 5 games last year for the BUCS! Played fine, didn’t give up a sack. If the people who REALLY know something about football( which wouldn’t be you two idiots!) think he can play, then he’ll play! And why do you care anyway? You two have predicted total failure for the team? If Dotson starts, it’ll just help you futher along your secret agenda- Hating Raheem! So which is it? Are the Bucs going to suck no matter what, because of their coach? Or is Penn the difference between 8-8, and 2-14? And since you’ve both predicted failure- why are you worried about?
July 28th, 2010 at 10:29 pm
My guess is that Penn would have gotten his new deal by now if he had just signed an injury waiver and gotten his ass to OTA’s. Just a guess, but I’m thinking there’s a contract waiting for Penn if he shows up, but it probably contains a weight gain clause, is performance based, and doesn’t have quite the guaranteed money that his agent is asking for.
Do you guys honestly think that Dominik wants to go into the season without Penn as his starting LT? Of course not, but he isn’t going to open up the flood gates and overpay for an average player again when he’s got 17 players in the last year of their contracts that are going to be expecting the same thing when the season’s done.
Some people need to try to see a little further into the future than just this season.
July 28th, 2010 at 10:31 pm
Oh, by the way! Javier is actually just Rahdomthe Racist with a new name, same slow squad racist agenda
July 28th, 2010 at 10:54 pm
I wonder why everyone thinks they know what’s going on at the negotiation table. I keep hearing “why don’t they give him the same $5M they gave Clayton or Leftwich or ….”, but how does anyone here know they haven’t offered a one year contract for more than the tender, and Penn is not interested, because he wants a long term deal? We don’t know if they’ve offered anything more than the tender, but as a one year deal. We don’t know if they’ve offered something lucrative but laden with clauses regarding weight or performance, and Penn wants the money guaranteed instead. We don’t know any of that, we’re not the agent, the player or the organization. We’re not part of the negotiations. It is possible that something has been offered, but not anything Penn is interested in. Maybe they’ve even offered an extension similar to Ferguson’s in which he’d “have to take” the RFA tender this year, and the next paycheck would be in the “next NFL season”, which would preclude the 2011 season if there’s a lockout, and rather than guaranteed money, they’ve put in weight clauses and performance incentives which Penn doesn’t want to have to achieve. We don’t know. I don’t know. Yet, everyone is acting as if they know what’s going on behind closed doors.
Jabber on people…. because both sides are talking about things they know nothing about.
July 28th, 2010 at 11:24 pm
Everyone says, “Just give Penn the $$$$$$”
Well how did that play out in Washington with facestomper?
Look the Bucs weren’t really happy with Penn last year. When he started he season he looked like he got his own zip code. Bulk up a little but don’t look like you ate Peanut!
There is too much bad blood between penn and Dominik – that’s why a new deal isn’t going to happen. Penn is already the most expensive OL on the team and the Bucs are “going young”.
Let’s face it why give Penn, a very good LT, a 5-year deal at an average of 4 million a year ($18-25 million contract) when they can roll the dice and draft a LT in 2011 with their high pick?
Remember folks no one is expecting the Bucs to do much better than .500 ball anyway, best to do it on the cheap AND send a message to the other players – hint Ruud – hint 😉
If Dotson or Lee does well during preseason I wouldn’t be surprised to see Dominik tell Penn to sit 2010 out. I would if I were in Dominik’s shoes.
July 29th, 2010 at 12:47 am
@Mr. Lucky
Are you kidding or are you being serious?? Let me know, so I know whether or not I have to blast you and your post.
July 29th, 2010 at 1:15 am
Please Mark, just pay Penn the money.
July 29th, 2010 at 7:15 am
Yes, I am stupid , Capt Tim. ( says the guy that thinks Radio is a smart coach – a guy who can’t even speack english , an Dumbinik – a silverspoon prettyboy who’s never played a down of football in his pathetic life , makes a good GM )
Capt. Tim , YOU are the moron …do us a favor , go back out on your boat , take the other 2 stooges ( Gary and Jim ) and sink it in the middle of the Bay.
July 29th, 2010 at 7:33 am
…and seriously , is Dumbinik really applauding the chance for a “competition” between inexpierenced players at LT , when the entire future of our franchise rests on our ability to develop and protect our franchise player , Josh Freeman?? It’s madness!!! These guys are morons!!
Anyone who can’t see that Radio and Dumbinik are merely puppets , is blind. The Glazers only hired these two nitwits because they knew they could control them. The Glazers are running this team , and right now everything is coming down to saving dollars and cents , until they can climb out of debt. When they are ready to compete again , Radio and Dumbinik will be fired. Wake up people !!
July 29th, 2010 at 7:37 am
Well, when Luke Petitgout, nobody had really heard of Donald Penn & some where wondering when we were going to get a legitimate LT. Like I stated in another discussion, anybody can be replaced. This could come back to bite Penn.
July 29th, 2010 at 7:44 am
Or better yet, mushbrains, why don’t you and the other slow squadder go join RahDomDaKlansman at his “rally, then you can all go to your house and watch yer”Gruden gone wild” videos! Heck, make it a double feature! Watch your “Antonio Bryant- hot and off the hook” video too! Then, when you’re done “mopping up”, you can go get a book- ” the Basics of Pro Football”. That way, if you slow boys decide to actually watch football, instead. Of drooling over Coaches or Hating on Raheem, YOU WILL ACTUALLY HAVE A CLUE OF WHAT THE HE’LL YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT!!! Then you won’t annoy the rest of us with you Mancrushes snd secret Lil agendas. Who knows, meybe once you understand the game, you might even like it! Then something crazy could happen! – YOU MIGHT ACTUALLY START SUPPORTING YOUR TEAM!! Instead of crying of yer lost love!
July 29th, 2010 at 7:47 am
Allright Mushmouth, that was pretty good! What cha got to come back with! Gonna have to some of your best work!
July 29th, 2010 at 7:55 am
Well, when Luke Petitgout went down, nobody had really heard of Donald Penn & some where wondering when we were going to get a legitimate LT. Like I stated in another discussion, anybody can be replaced. This could come back to bite Penn.
July 29th, 2010 at 8:20 am
Well now I know I have finally made it since Mushy called me a “stooge”.
Let me just say that an NFL GM is not like the head coach, he doesn’t need to be a former player to have credibility… he is a businessman you fool!
Capt. now that stuff about Gruden/AB videos was hilarious!
July 29th, 2010 at 11:01 am
What I want to know is, which of one of you are gonna clean the erasers out before nap time?
July 29th, 2010 at 12:35 pm
Pat, just in case you missed something…Penn was offered a nice bump “to get him thru the season”…He wants a long term deal, not just a bump for the season, otherwise, he would take the 3 mil and play his arse off.
July 29th, 2010 at 6:54 pm
Cap’t tim, Jimbuc,
Tell us how you do it. Do you take turns shoving your heads up Glazer’s arse, or do you both stick your heads up Glazer’s arse at the same time? One uses the race card. The other one just chimes in on whatever the Glazer agenda is for the day. By both of your posts it is clearthat you both love the air up that arse! Hell, I might be wrong. Maybe it’s up Raheems arse! But you both come out smelling like sh$t.
Can’t wait for the excuses in just a few weeks.
July 30th, 2010 at 8:24 am
Tampa2- well, I’m glad the slow squad picked you to defend mushforbrains honor. I heard he sat at the computer for two hours tring to come up with a witty retort, then he suffered a brain lock! Smoke was rolling out of his ears! They said it smelled like burnt oatmeal, lol! Ok, T2, only one interesting tidbit out of that pathetic Lil tirade! ” Can’t wait for the excuses in just a few weeks!” why would that be? Are you hoping the Bucs are getting trashed! Are you really hoping the team is losing badly? If that’s the case, what the he’ll are you doing here? If fans that disagree with recent decissions don’t hope the team sucks! If they do, does this somehow make a loser like you look smart? You want are team to do poorly, so you can sat”I told you so”, and bask in the glow of genius? Are you really THAT pathetic? If not, then why are you cheering for the Browns in week in one? Do you think it will bring back your beloved Chucky? Or meybe, you HATE Raheem Morris? Why, his first year wasn’t as bad as others- Jimmy Johnson comes to mind, So why hate Raheem? One year isn’t enough to judge, and this year hasn’t started,So how could you hate him this much already? Are you a racist, like Your slow squad buddies Rahdom and Patrick? Is it personal- did he steal your girlfriend away? Or meybe you are just treacherous by nature- Benedict Arnold in yer family tree? Did alot of your Family get HUNG from trees? I’m just curious to see what would cause some Scumbag to cheer for their to lose . This team has been pretty competitive overall since the Glazers Bought the team, and they are making changes to Keep this team consistantly Competative. Raheem inherited a bad team, and has improved it already by bring in young talent! I think we will be much improved THIS year, and better still next. If not, the Glazers will replace him- no big deal, I won’t shed a tear! But I tell you what I won’t do! I won’t sit here and cry like s little bitch over every decissions any makes, pretending I’m some kind of expert! I won’t cry of a .500 coach who’s gone, because I have a crush in him! I won’t insult a rookie coach, because he made a few mistakes! And I would NEVER ,NEVER want to see my Bucs lose to ANYONE. And neither would anyone who isn’t a treacherous Lil douchebags! I think you need to get your head out of your own ass! Thank you, have a nice Day 🙂
