Fullback Rendrick Taylor Has Raheem “Excited”
May 1st, 2010The Bucs were bound to fall in love with a few of the many dozen tryout players in rookie minicamp at One Buc Place this weekend.
It seems the first love child out of the gate is Rendrick Taylor, a 274-pound, fleet-footed manbeast of a fullback out of Clemson, so reports Tom Balog, of the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
”We’re like, ‘Gosh, dang, how’d this guy pop through the cracks?’ ” said offensive coordinator Greg Olson. “Guys that big usually get picked up.” …Olson said Taylor has proven himself worthy of another film review of his college career.
“We’re trying to figure out, we have to go back and watch this kid on film and see what he’s like with the pads on,” Olson said. “Because without pads the way he moves around at 274 is pretty impressive.”
Joe recommends you click the link above and read good-guy Balog’s story. Raheem The Dream claims to be “excited” by Taylor.
Joe loves this time of year when no-names emerge and take a step closer to their dream.
With only Chris Pressley and Earnest Graham on the roster at fullback, the Bucs are likely eager to put a young fullback on their practice squad.

Any chance he bumps Pressley?

Joe, Raheem gets excited by sliced bread.

Let one of these guys be our fullback so Graham be a running back again!!
May 1st, 2010 at 9:20 pm
Amen to that Patrick!

I m intrigued by this guy. Here is a clip from Youtube of him in the Orange and White Game.. Yeah I know it’s not the best game to judge someone’s ability… However, in the clip, you can see how quick this guy is
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chiHv5nwc0M
If it pans out, this could be a steal.

I just watched that video too. I’m guessing he’s put some weight on since then because he didn’t look 274, but the fact that he made moves like that is promising. I’ll have to search for more video on this guy because a FB that big that can move is an interesting possibility.
May 1st, 2010 at 9:45 pm
I find it humourous that they signed a guy they never even watched film on…he says “we have to go back and watch film on this guy”…lol, what a joke.
May 1st, 2010 at 9:47 pm
They haven’t signed Mr Negativity. They call them tryouts for a reason.
“All the negativity in this town SUCKS!!!” lol
May 1st, 2010 at 9:55 pm
JOe here,
Radio – They didn’t sign him. He’s here for a tryout.
Prurutis Ani – It’s a scrimmage for gosh sakes. It’s nice that he didn’t get caught from behind, but please don’t excited over that.

Why was he playing WR in that clip??
May 1st, 2010 at 10:04 pm
Looks like he wasn’t even a fullback in college , looks like he was playing wr/te…that’s probably why no one considered him.
He probably can’t block for shit
May 1st, 2010 at 10:04 pm
Sooo…. sense Miller gave #93 to McCoy, will Freeman give #5 to Taylor? Also, did anyone notice in the clip he was an inch shorter and 50 pounds lighter? Hmmm….. might have something to do with him not being drafted? Well I hope he is a gem as we could use one. If all pans out we could have the guy who fills the void our loved A-TRAIN left behind. We can only hope right? I’m excited.
May 1st, 2010 at 10:34 pm
He came into college playing reciever at 225 then ended up growing into 255lbs…….dude is big and quick for sure and something we are sorely missing is a FB who will smack a LB in the mouth so hope he continues to impress.
May 1st, 2010 at 10:48 pm
This guy is huge.Should be a great blocker at that size.
Some interesting kids in minicamp this year.
Rah or Dom has been doing thier homework.
May 1st, 2010 at 11:17 pm
I read he had several injuries last year which hurt his status. The team was much better when he played though. One injury was a broken arm. They say he is a good blocker and he can catch. As a senior in High School he was a 205 LB receiver and ran a 4.5 – 40. He appears to have bulked up from 255 last year. Very strong, 400 lb club on the bench with 225 like 30 times. The Bucs may have something here.

Maybe the dude could also be used as a blocking tight end, as I understand is needed.
May 2nd, 2010 at 2:12 am
I’m still suspect of Rah’s ability to address the leadership void on this team!

RadioMushMouth,
It must be a real pleasant household you keep…I bet it’s cloudy in your neighborhood 24-7…
Can you idiots realize that this is a minicamp and that these articles are merely fodder? This is a blog. But you’re probably too old to realize what purpose a blog serves…

its a new season….last season is over…..time for some optimism……at least until they begin to crash and burn!!
May 2nd, 2010 at 9:07 am
Why are the coaches the only ones who don’t see that Earnest Graham is our best RB?…..I like Caddy’s heart but he and Ward seem average on their best days. Put Graham at tailback and get a big fullback like this guy.
May 2nd, 2010 at 9:09 am
HOPEFULLY THE FULBACKS WE HAVE CAN STAY HEALTHY SO WE CAN RUN EARNEST GRAHAM MORE. HE SHOULD BE THE MAN
May 2nd, 2010 at 9:24 am
Being big does not make you a good blocker ….see Mike Alstott.
It takes more than a big atheletic body to be a good fullback , you have to be willing to grind and crack heads with other 250 pounders all day long…not exactly most people’s dream job.
All I’m saying is…temper the enthusiam…we all know were some of our other workout warriors ended up.
David Boston.
Larry Brackins.
Anthony Mix.
Anyone remember these names ??

As if there was any doubt that it is the offseason . . .
May 2nd, 2010 at 11:03 am
Holy cow RadioMM I can’t believe that you actualy posted something positive here
May 2nd, 2010 at 11:59 am
I’m not sure if I care if this guy can block. He’s 275lbs. and can catch. Line him up and run a FB screen. What LB or DB is gonna take him down? Guy’s a beast. If he can block, it’s a bonus. How about running him on 3rd and 1? I can’t imagine him not getting at least a yard. He’s got moves, quickness, size, hands… maybe we can plug him into Clayton’s spot.
May 2nd, 2010 at 12:01 pm
Yeah he is a big guy with a pair of decent hands and some swift feet. Hopefully he’s not afraid of hammering on guys his size and bigger. A true fullback loves contact. He might possibly block better than jeremy stephens and john gilmore. He would be a great option @ tight end. Earnest Graham is the most productive back we have when he gets the chance to pound the rock. He souldn’t be wasting his time playing fullback. I’m sure every Buc fan in the world holds thair breath when Caddi carries the ball. Give Graham some more carries. Bradshaw not ward should have been the back we took from the Giants better fit for what were working with.
May 2nd, 2010 at 12:17 pm
He runs fast too!:

I’ve said plenty of positive things…I’m just bored because it’s the offseason so I’m having a little fun heckling the kool-aid drinkers.

From a Clemson fan here is the scoop on Rendrick: While at Clemson he was a physical specimen that looks like he could run over anybody. Continued to bulk up while keeping his agility and speed. Here is the kicker: the guy is injury prone. The reason he “slipped through the cracks” and wasn’t drafted is because he could never stay healthy enough to play. The guy is as physically gifted as anyone I have ever seen yet he made me more nervous on the field because I have never seen a guy like that get hurt so much. Big risk, but could end up being successful as a fullback.
