Why The Change At One Buc Palace?

April 22nd, 2010
So, Rah, how about the value in all those corners and receivers available at the bottom of the first round?

"So, Rah, how about the value in all those corners and receivers available at the bottom of the first round?"

Last week, the Buccaneers announced that their much ballyhooed in-stadium draft party tonight was from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., a schedule that left anyone who wanted to watch the final two-thirds of the opening round at the stadium scratching their heads.

Joe speculated that the 9 p.m. cutoff was the Bucs tipping their hand that they had no plans to trade down.

Now, Joe has just learned from his partners at WDAE-AM 620 that the Bucs are extending the draft party to midnight, and WDAE, the Bucs’ flagship radio station, will be covering the draft there live into the wee hours.

Hmmm.

Either an event director got quite a scolding, or somehow this is all tied to the Bucs actual draft plans.

Trade down, anyone?

Actually, I think trade back up into the first. All those 7th round picks…something has to give.

I love it. I heard that a janitor at OBP called in sick today. Hmmm . . . is that a trade up or a trade down sign?

In all likelihood, the event planner probably had an oversight.

However, because its fun to speculate, it could be because the Rams are no longer taking Bradford and both DTs will be 1 and 2, so we’ll trade back into the tail end of the first round to get Brian Price or a WR. Alternatively, this could be a sign of trading up to get Dez Bryant. The guy is habitually late, not a diva, a druggy, or a lazy worker, so the bad influence aspect of letting Bryant go and passing on Marshall/Holmes is not a concern. How awesome would it be if we got both Eric Berry and Dez Bryant, with Brian Price at the beginning of the 2nd round?

    ^^^^ This is likely.

Otherwise what a great PR move, let’s have a party, enjoy the first nine picks of the draft but come 9PM all you bums get the (bleep) out and watch the rest of the draft somewhere else. Oh and make sure you buy season tickets on your way out the door. Thank you for coming. Please take a free Leftwich Jersey for your trouble.

IMO buc fans will go balistic if we trade down from 3. I don’t think the glazers will be able to handle the fall out. And the way Dominik cherishes every pick this year I don’t even think he bundles draft picks and moves back up. I just think running off everyone off at 9 made the Glazes look cheap again. Trade down would be a PR nightmare.

Once again this is just a sign of managements’ incompetance…they don’t even know how long the 1st round will last , much less who they should pick…

Maybe Joe is misreading things, but Joe isn’t so sure. Depends what the Bucs get in return for that trade.

Joe what R U smoking? If Suh is available and the Bucs let him go and trade down believe me I WILL go balastic

One this about the Glazers, they certainly have all of us in suspense! Will they trade-down, trade-up, Draft Suh, Draft McCoy, Draft Berry, or not show up at all. With team Glazer anything can happen. We’ll find out in 11 minutes!
