Draft Party Schedule Possibly Tipping Bucs Hand
April 16th, 2010Joe was very surprised to learn that the Buccaneers official draft party on Thursday at Raymond James Stadium ends at 9 p.m.
Huh?
Did somebody (Mark Dominik) tell somebody (Team Glazer) who told the event staff that the Bucs weren’t trading down, or trading up to grab an additional first round pick, so they could save on payroll stop the party at 9?
By 9 p.m., only the first nine or 10 picks of the first round will have been made.
How does an experienced organization like the Bucs close the doors on a draft party just nine picks into the first round?
First of all, that’s completely uncool for those who like to enjoy the draft with a few cold beers. And surely, the Bucs might just trade down out of the No. 3 overall pick and still be on the clock long after 9 p.m.
Somebody must know something.

Since the second round of the draft is really the first, at least down to 40 selections, they need two nights of partying.
Then they could build up the celebration to the fifth round when they select the future Super Bowl MVP, having already secured a couple of hall of famers “1995” style.

How long do teams get per first round pick? 10 minutes? The draft starts at 7 so we could be in the twenties by then. I personally don’t see us trading the 2’s to get back into the first, especially since we’ll have all night to talk shop. So, maybe the only tip off is that we won’t trade down past 20, which is fine with me…

Joe here,
leningan – The draft starts at 7:30 p.m.

Not only does the draft start at 7:30, but I believe with each trade made the receiving side of the trade is alotted additional minutes to get that selection made.
At the same time, I don’t care what selection has gone before there “9pm closing time”, is it not just as important to any draft to watch and see who the teams within your division select?
Why would anyone ever go to a Draft Bash that kicks you out in the middle of the first round? Ridiculous! I hope this is some type of lapse in communication with where ever this info came from or from who ever made this decision and it is rectified immediately.

This is just preparation for everyone to get used to leaving at halftime during the actual games.

Hey, if any fellow naysayers wanna crash this so called draft party “animal House” style, I might be up for it.
We could all wear Clayton jerseys and chant “were number 30”, “were number 30”.
Probably get arrested but what the hell, at least the Glazers would know not everybody in this town is a gullible chump.

We could fight them with conventional weapons.
That could take years…cost millions of lives.
In this case…I think we have to go all out.
I think this situation absolutely requires…a really futile and stupid gesture
be done on somebody’s part.
We’re just the guys to do it!
