Chucky And Colt McCoy

April 15th, 2010

Texas quarterback Colt McCoy enters Chucky’s bunker and gets an earful from the former Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach.

It appears Chucky doesn’t like Texans.

Come on Joe turn comments for big dog. (Now, now…) Saying our number two this year will be equvalent to a number one. Are u kidding me? And the guy we draft will be better than Marshall. Huh? I could listen to this guy at least half the time but this is the dumbest crap I’ve ever heard. What (easy… ) makes him think we are going to be that successful. And to say our first 3 choices will be starters is obvious.. Dominik is making every position weak so no matter who we draft will be a starter. That doesn’t mean they will be good.

  10. Finerdetailz Says:

Sorry Joe . I know this off topic for this article but had to vent. I can’t wait to see Chucky tonight.

  11. gruss222 Says:

Yeah, We all know what a great mentor and developmental coach for rookie QBs Gruden was! Who in the world put this film together? What a joke? Now if it was Shanahan or somebody like that, then it may be worth something.

  12. OAR Says:

    Schnooks are sure noisy things.

LOL You’re actually getting better. 🙂

To be fair, Dominik is hardly the only person saying the Bucs’ second round picks will be as good as first round picks in other years because the draft is so deep. This has been talked about for months by many NFL types.

  14. Brad Says:

and now every bad pick was Gruden’s fault and if we have a successful draft it’s cause Dominik is directing it.. This is another reason(Come on, no personal attacks Brad) . Every single opportunity he can bash Gruden and blame everything on Chucky.. Now he thinks cause this draft is so deep the Bucs can’t miss.. but.. every team in the NFL is drafting from this same pool.. So if a team is already good they get better.. The Bucs talent sucks right now… so our only chance is be ok not great.

  15. Eric Says:

Is receiver thought to be one of the very deep positions in this particular draft?

I was comparing the list of receiver draftees from last year, and comparing it to this year, and the superiority wasn’t really jumping out at me.

A couple of guys from last year made some immediate impact, like the guy the Eagles drafted. Bryant and Tate are basically the only potential first rounders this year aren’t they? Or is it there just supposed to be more of them?

  16. Red Man Says:

If Chucky think Colt McCoy is hard to understand…he should try sitting through one of Radio’s press conferences….

  17. Jonny Says:

    Red Man? or Red Neck?

  18. tampa2 Says:

Joe, I am amazed about Dominik being in charge of the scouting dep’t the last few years, only to hear some writers, and one unnamed radio personality this afternoon that Dominik wasn’t at fault because the final say had to come from Allen/Gruden. If Dominik and his scouting dep’t had no say, then why have a scouting dep’t at all? Seems to me that the scouting Dep’t scouts the players and gives recommendations on certain ones, then the GM/HC picks from what those scouts had to say. So which is it, the Chicken or the Egg? Where does the fault lay? With the GM/HC that made the final pick on the players? Or the Scouts that made the recommendations?
Only the “bad” picks were Gruden/Allen’s fault, to hear “someone” say. And Dominik wasn’t at fault at all! Well, there is no one to blame this year, so we will find out whether it was the Chicken or the Egg.

  19. Finerdetailz Says:

Right on Tampa 2. Listening to Duemig give zero blame to Dominik is (WHEN WILL YOU LEARN BRAD??? — JOE). It’s amazing how Steve coos all over Dominik. I may have disagreed with him in the past but this ‘safe’ reporting and not telling it like it is, is nauseating. At least other personalities on different time slots don’t hold back. I don’t think there is a writer, radio host, sportscaster, etc. Etc. that havent called this regime on the carpet. Even national news have questioned the Bucs lack of movement. The Big Dog is the only one. It’s amazing how he can still blame Gruden. I don’t mind when he would disagree with a coaches moves but when he started calling for Grudens job, I think that goes too far. To me that was the beginning of my distrust in how things were reported by him.

  20. Eric Says:

The infomercial/interview this afternoon with Duemig/Dom was quite interesting. Naturally, no questions about Holmes or Marshall, and the big dog was quite helpful in providing the answer to each question as part of the question.

But, Dom did say he expected the team to have a quick turnaround and this years class of rookies would play immediately and have an impact.

Also, he commented that the first round quality of the draft ran down to pick number 40. So, I suppose that means we have 2 number ones and a very high number two.

I have to give the man credit for a bold prediction and very high confidence in his drafting abilities. The man is surely “all in” on this draft!

Anybody else notice Dominik almost never mentions Raheem in an interview? I find that interesting.

  21. gruss222 Says:

Gruden loyalism! How many years before it ever ends?? Gruden, Gruden, Gruden!!

Get over it people! Your Guru Gruden is gone.

In the same rational as above, which did come first? If both sides are culpable, then Gruden shares at least half the blame. Great, whatever. Can we some day get past this repeat discussion.

One of your Gruden kool-aid drinkers, please tell me the last rookie QB his majesty Gruden developed into even a starting role, much less an elite QB? Exactly ZERO! His 30 minute break down of film clips, edited for television entertainment by the infamous BSPN, as Joe would call them, is worth absolutely squat!!

  22. Eric Says:

Gruden didnt have to develop a QB, cause he got Rich Gannon to MVP level of play, won the Super Bowl with Brad Johnson, a Division Title with Chris Sims, and another with Jeff Garcia!

I think that reflects a pretty damn good body of work at the QB position! Thats why QB’s come to him for advice, and NFL teams value his opinion. I somehow doubt they would be running to “Rah” if he suddenly was without work! Unless someone wanted a lesson in how to speak incoherently!

I have no intention of giving it up because it is painfully obvious Mr. Rah can’t hold a candle to Gruden as far as coaching. Its disgusting ingrates like you who ran the guy out of town and now can’t be man enough to admit you were wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. Mr. lucky Says:

    @Grumpy(Gruss)

Of all the ESPN announcers whom did they pick to do these sit down interviews!

I can sure as he** guarentee they weren’t gonna call Radio Morris!

  24. jake Says:

Deumig historically has been a tell it like it is kind of guy. I don’t really believe that Steve believes what he his pitchiin for his station. I think this clearly relates back to Clearchannels contractual relationship with the Bucs. With Sileo and Ron and Ian railing on the Bucs daily, I believe that unless Deuming leveled the playing field and presented a balanced approach from the station they would be in jeopardy of losing their business relationship as the flagship station for the Bucs and the Buccanneer radio network.. Deuming is way to smart and saavy to believe any of what Dominik or the Glazers are trying to sell.

  25. BigMacAttack Says:

Speaking of QB’s, Ben Roethlisberger raped that chick. He’s a rapist or so the sorry paints a picture. Now I guess he didn’t rape the other girl in Vagas either. This guy should be in jail for many many years. He’ll probably get a 2 game suspension, less than if he smoked weed or used steroids. Say what you will about Marshall & Holmes, I’m a fan of neither. Ben takes the cake and is the worst kind of criminal, one that preys on women, probably even children given the chance. I just want to say this one time, that guy has a serious date with Karma, hopefully sooner rather than later. POS = Big Ben

  26. Eric Says:

    @BigMacAttack

I must say I am shocked they didn’t arrest the guy. What has come out seems to provide a lot of corroborating evidence of the woman’s version of events.

Ive seen charges filed with a lot less than what they had there!

Why would an NFL guy rape a girl? Don’t they have plenty of consensual opportunities?

  27. Mr. lucky Says:

Hey Eric – maybe Big Ben got Sapp’s lawyers!

  28. Finerdetailz Says:

Sorry again Joe. I just so fired up I can’t help myself. Gruss I will be happy to quit bringing up Gruden if certain people will quit blaming everything that has ever gone wrong with this team on Gruden. If Bruce Allen was the GM then the overall decision was on him. If he allowed Gruden to make certain draft choices then it’s as much his fault. I do know Gruden did not want Gaines Adams and instead of blame going somewhere else it’s stated that it was just Monty’s turn. What kind of ridiculous thinking is that? Once again that should fall on Allen. 10 years from now when we are trying to remember how great it was to win a Suberbowl in this town, I hope Gruden will be appreciated alot more. In the meantime others will be saying Rah who?, Dominik who?

  29. Eric Says:

I wonder whther the great Dom and Rah could “build through the draft” if they were without their number one and two draft choices for two consecutive years?

According to their wizdom, the bucs lost out on a couple of probowlers and a hall of famer or two when that happened in the Gruden years.

Oh, that only applies if the current geniuses are making the selections.
