Hovan On The Trading Block
April 24th, 2010Joe waved good-bye to defensive tackle Chris Hovan yesterday, when the Bucs selected Brian Price in the second round.
Even before the draft, Joe was quite certain that Hovan, and his big salary and 10 years and 156 games of NFL service, didn’t fit in the Bucs’ budget plans.
Now, midway through the fifth round of the draft, Mike Florio, of ProFootballtalk.com, is reporting the Bucs are shopping Hovan.
Maybe they can find a seventh-rounder for him.

I remember the Minnesota Blogs when we got Hovan, some were glad to see him go then. Age has a way of catching up with players, and I think Hovan gave us all he could, considering his age. Time for new blood.

I agree Eric. I like RB Stefon Johnson USC. I think the kid is extremely talented and has only fallen due to the weight room incident.

Hovan is the only decent nose tackle we have….if we get rid of him it’s just another notch in Dumbinik’s belt of stupidity.
I guess this officially means we plan on putting our talented young under-tackle ,Price , at the unglorious Nose position , and ruining his career.
Brilliant

I would be really surprised if they are able to get anything for him. Age and performance are not in his favor. Teams are smart enough to realize he will likely be waived later on after the draft.

Radiomushmouth,
Keep on your negative tone. Blame Rah and Dom for all your problems. Keep up your bitching and moaning. Make sure you save a spot on the bandwagon for when you try to jump back on…

I’ll be here long after the Dumb and Dumber , our coach and gm , are gone Hosstyle.
..and it’s not negativism , it’s realism.

We not keep him for depth??!!!! We have had some good years on defense with him.
I think Sims should go, but maybe we can keep Hovan. If not, maybe trade him to a team like the Raiders, Lions, or Browns who have a bad defense.

Hey guys leave RadioMushMouth alone – he’s a genius man.

I agree with Chris Hovan 🙂

Back in the day “real” coaches used to bring in new talent, plug one or two in with the veterans, and let the veterans teach the new guys the right way to play in the NFL. Raheem just dumps all the old veterans and lets the new talent learn on their own. Didn’t work out too well last year. And I doubt it will work out this year.

Hovan was a hard working team player but yes, his age has caught up with him. Hard working team guy but he is definitely in his sunset years as a pro. No animosity here, just a thank you for playing for the Bucs and giving a 100 percent while he was here, unlike Clanghands.
