Bucs Got Their Second (Third?) Warren Sapp
April 23rd, 2010The Bucs and Mark Dominik pulled off a shocker when they drafted Brian Price in the second round.
In some circles, Price was thought to be an equal of Gerald McCoy, the Bucs’ first round draft pick. Now the Bucs have arguably the top two defensive tackles in the draft.
Instant defensive front.
Appearing with Joe’s good friend Justin Pawlowski and Joe himself on WHNZ-AM 1250 Friday night, Price said one of the things that the Bucs liked about him was that he reminded them of a certain former Buccaneer.
“They said they reminded me of Warren Sapp,” Price said.
Where have we heard that before?
Now the Bucs have two Sapp wannabes.
This is not a bad thing. This gives the Bucs immediate depth on the defensive line and the tackles can stay fresh with rotations.
Price told Pawlowski and Joe that he actually met Sapp recently and that Sapp offered to help him out and give him any tips that he can.
Joe wonders if Sapp is an unofficial defensive assistant now? If so, nice move Mr. Dominik!

God damn morons !!!!!
I was one of the ones that thought Price is as good as MCCoy , but why the hell would you pick both of them ??? There is only 1 undertackle on the field at a time !!! All the holes on this team and we draft two players at the same spot????
I knew DUmbinik would F*ck this up !!!! Fire these morons now !!!

where is the Benn update.. come on Joe.. I’m going to all the other sites too read up on the next pick..

DL should no longer be a big concern once they are up to speed. It was our biggest weakness.
April 23rd, 2010 at 8:14 pm
Mushmouth, it’s called “rotation”. Keeping a fresh stud on the field for 4 quarters. Add Miller, and this is a D-line that’ll be stout for several years.

I love this pick, with or without McCoy. Great value pick.
C’mon Radio Mush, think about what you’re saying here. Two DT’s to add to Miller. Great rotation. McCoy can even play DE on 3’rd down. Red Zone defense. Pay attention for once and you might learn something. Have another Caybrew and chill.

WHY?!?!?!??! It was our second round pick Raheem!!!! You spend a pick on Brian Price, who is not even going to play 60 minutes?!?!?!? They’re nfl players!!! They can handle it! I thought Roy Miller was supposed to be our starter.
April 23rd, 2010 at 8:53 pm
Rotation??? Who cares about rotation !! We are a 3-13 team and you are basically saying it’s a good idea to draft for depth at a position we already filled??
Are you retarded???
This was a total waste of a pick if McCoy is as good as you all claim he is. A high 2nd rounder who is going to be sitting the bench behind McCoy his entire career. What a joke !!!!! We are the laughing stock of the league….

Funny, the professionals on ESPN and at NFL network were all touting this as a good pick. I guess all their years of experience in and around the NFL give them no insight, Mushmouth, since you are obviously so much smarter.
April 23rd, 2010 at 9:02 pm
The guys on ESPN say every pick is a good pick , in case you haven’t noticed.
According to them every player in that 1st round is a future hall of famer.
It isn’t that Brian Price is a bad player , it’s that it’s a position in which we just filled, and are paying a guy 40 million dollars garanteed. You are going to take the 40 million dollar man of the field ?? Not likely. It’s a waste of a PICK.
Get a clue.
April 23rd, 2010 at 9:04 pm
Maybe they dont think Miller is as good as they want him to be I know that The Bucs Dt’s should be ok for the next five years and It is boom or Bust wiht Benn
April 23rd, 2010 at 9:07 pm
uh oh.
I sense some chinks in the armor in the stupendous buccaneer 2010 draft………………..
whoops
April 23rd, 2010 at 9:10 pm
TJ , you act like we can play them both together… they are both undertackles … You will never ever be able to put these two tackles on the field at the same time …a total waste of a pick . A player that selected that high needs to be a starter for your team ….We’ve got holes all over the place , and this is what we do??
There is no justifying this idiocy!!
April 23rd, 2010 at 9:12 pm
@ Radio
What did you really expect sir?
April 23rd, 2010 at 9:17 pm
I expected nothing less Eric , but I still HOPED for more after last night seeing how many players were still on the board in round 2.
I’m so pissed ….we are doomed to suck ass for years to come now thanks to these 2 nitwits, DUmbinik and Radio
April 23rd, 2010 at 9:26 pm
Actually Kiper questioned why the Bucs picked this guy up. So not all the guys from ESPN liked the pick. It was a stupid stupid pick.
April 23rd, 2010 at 9:40 pm
@ Radio we could have picked someone else yes but look at some of Mccoys tapes he played end on nickel so I can see them doing that but totlay agree we have other needs
April 23rd, 2010 at 10:19 pm

April 23rd, 2010 at 11:13 pm

In my futile attempt to get away from the bickering and get back to the article, am I the only one besides Joe that finds it interesting that Sapp has talked to both of these guys and offered his tutoring advice. Look, I think the Bucs have three legit players here for their DL, but make no mistake THEY HAVE A LOT OF LEARNING TO DO and Todd Wash is a joke. Warren’s been through the fire. He understands how Rod developed players. Having Sapp tudor, even adjunct tudor would be HUGE for these young guys! Ok, commence bashing each other again. Im done.
