Bucs Continue Their Love Of FSU Linebackers
April 24th, 2010The legacy of Florida State linebackers being drafted by the Bucs continued Saturday when the Bucs picked up Dekoda Watson.
Watson was one of the few bright spots on a terribly unusual horrid defense last season. While Watson is strong against the run, his lightning speed made him a lethal blitzer racking up nine sacks for the Seminoles in 2009.
Watson isn’t much on pass coverage, so if he is in the game on third down it’s to rush the quarterback. Watson’s speed will likely mean he will be a special teams player to start out.
Watson played on the field at the same time as current Bucs starting linebacker Geno Hayes and former 49ers linebacker Buster Davis.
Joe suspects somewhere, Derrick Brooks is smiling.

I can’t believe everyone is passing on Blount…no pun intended

Joe,
What happened to pick 225 and 232? They are gone from the board. Is there a trade going on?
April 24th, 2010 at 4:06 pm
Believe so, cannot confirm though.
April 24th, 2010 at 4:06 pm
Looks like both those picks went to Denver. Something is going on….

Clayton (Skillet) plus two picks for a Running Back
April 24th, 2010 at 4:09 pm
I like this pick. But I don’t like the fact that they ignored the defensive end position. Also, I think we should’ve taken O-lineman Bruce Campbell in the 4th round instead of Mike Williams. He was a first rounder talent player who would’ve improved our O-line.

Yea it was our 2 7th’s for their 5th next year. Great trade imo.
April 24th, 2010 at 4:12 pm
Patrick,
You would have rather had Bruce Campbell instead of a pretty awesome WR to pair with Benn? The only thing that concerns me is if Penn holds out, other than that its a no brainer to me and I am glad we got two awesome BIG receivers.

Florida girl:
Where did you hear/read this about Clayton?
April 24th, 2010 at 4:12 pm
Are you kidding?? WHAT A STUPID TRADE!!!! There’s still good players left!!!
April 24th, 2010 at 4:12 pm
I was reading this and mentally inserted Rachel before I read Watson. Joe you need a new obsession you are starting to mess with me mentally now.

Can you believe the terrible tie that Dilfer is wearing? Pretty in Pink!
April 24th, 2010 at 4:15 pm
Just wishful thinking. Most likely related to Hovan/Sims on the block. Interesting.
April 24th, 2010 at 4:15 pm
Dilfer has a man-crush on McCoy – but after seeing his fashion today maybe it is more than a crush!!!!!

@bucologist:
Penn plays LT. Bruce Campbell plays OT, and would either compete with or replace Jeremy Trueblood. Our offensive line wasn’t too pretty last year, and Campbell was an elite first round talent that fell to the fourth round.

Patrick:
Says who? That guy’s a stiff. He couldn’t even make All-ACC. What’s that tell you?
April 24th, 2010 at 4:18 pm
LOL!
April 24th, 2010 at 4:19 pm
Probably Eddie Royal or Champ Bailey. Could also be for Knowshon Moreno
April 24th, 2010 at 4:26 pm
Also, another thing that confuses me and makes me mad is how Morris and Dominik talk about having good character guys on this team. They let AB go, didn’t trade a 5th rounder for Holmes, but then they just get this guy???!!!! It doesn’t make sense at all. Carlton Mitchell and Jacoby Ford were still available and are better prospects.
April 24th, 2010 at 4:26 pm
Elite first round talent??? Far from it. Take off the combine glasses and watch some film. Cambell is a workout wonder. Looks like a first plays like a sixth. Trading two 7 s for a 5 is a great move. A bunch of our targets will be udfa will be available. It has been a good draft. Wouldve liked Rolle and Everson out of USC but pretty good.

I like the guy from FSU and the safety from Virginia. But I don’t think we should’ve taken a punter in the 5th round. By the way, I read about the punter. It’s been said that he does a good job of getting the ball inside the 20 yard line. But it’s also been said that he will be a good punter and not a great punter. Good, not great.
I would’ve drafted someone like George Selvie. We still haven’t gotten a defensive end, which has really surprised me.
We also needed a fullback. Earnest Graham needs to move back to running back where he belongs!

Hey Joe – how much $$ will these 7th rouunders get?
Draft’s over when is mini-camp starting? Next Monday?
April 24th, 2010 at 5:29 pm
Patrick said: “I like the ….safety from Virginia.”
The safety from Virginia is the son of Russ Grimm, who was one the “hogs” in Washington. However Cody didn’t benefit in size as much as his dad did. Maybe we can call him “little piggie”.

So we stock up all these draft picks , because we are going to try and build through the draft in one of the deepest drafts in recent years , and instead of picking players we trade the picks away for a future pick next year???
Seriously , what the hell are these assclowns doing??? Everytime it appears they have a plan , they do something contrary to the plan !!

As a Seminole fan and Booster I might add, I think getting Dekoda could turn out to be a good move for us. The biggest reason in my opinion he wasn’t a superstar at FSU was because he had terrible coaching. Personally I believe he’ll be a special teams ace with his speed and given proper tutoring he could turn out to be a very good back-up if not even a starter @ some point. He’s got all the tools, just needs someone to show him how to use them.

I’m stoaked. When is the SuperBowl.
