Warren Sapp Laughs At Gerald McCoy
March 2nd, 2010Since the day Chucky claimed he would call Warren Sapp right back — Sapp often half-jokingly likes to say he’s still waiting for that call back — the Bucs have been in need of an All-Pro defensive tackle.
Some suggest Oklahoma defensive tackle Gerald McCoy is such a player. But don’t tell that to Warren Sapp.
Good guy yet Maoist Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports brings word how one NFL scout compared McCoy to Sapp. When Sapp heard that, well, Joe will let Silver tell the story.
A 6-foot-4, 298-pound menace in the middle, McCoy has been said to resemble Kevin Williams, the Minnesota Vikings’ perennial All-Pro defensive tackle. He’s a strong, relentless, athletic player who has a penchant for blasting through and past defenders and terrorizing quarterbacks. One scout I talked to thought the Williams comparison didn’t go far enough.
“Kevin Williams?” the scout scoffed. “To me, he’s Warren Sapp, only bigger and stronger.” (Sapp’s response, via text message: “LMAO!”)
The skepticism is understandable: Sapp, a future Hall of Famer, was one of the best players of his generation, and exaggeration is rampant among talent evaluators this time of year.
Even if McCoy is 3/4 the player Sapp was, he would be a good pick up.
Later, Sapp Twittered with more mocking of McCoy:
@QBKILLA Good Morning, Dust has Settles 4 Me! Take McCoy! Ain’t No Bench Press On the any Yd Line! Feet Beat Weights everyday & Twice on Sunday!!

Tha Twitter from Sapp was an endorsement earlier and now its mocking?
Make up your mind Joe.

Remember d-money there are two “Joe’s.”
The one typing now wrote that post first thing this morning and believes Sapp is no fan of McCoy based on what he texted Maoist Michael Silver and how Sapp scoffed there’s no lifting weights on the line.
Joe is a two-headed monster and on occasion suffers from split personalities.

d-money, I don’t think that’s what Joe is saying. Sapp is laughing at the comparison of McCoy to be better than Sapp. Yet Sapp is still giving his endorsement of McCoy because he thinks highly of him.
Tape doesn’t lie and McCoy is an excellent 3 technique.

Uhmmm whichever Joe this is, I’m pretty positve that Sapp’s tweet today was a real endorsement of McCoy. He isn’t a big believer in the combine especially in the bench and McCoy is the guy who looks better on film as far as being polished. (he’s actually used that line about bench presses in referencinig himself back in the day)
On the other hand I am sure he was laughing at the comparision of himself to McCoy because Sapp was more athletic than either Suh or McCoy ever dreamed of being. That’s not even to talk about the accomplishments Sapp has had in his career. But as we all know, hyperbole is the name of the game around this time of the year before the draft.

Sapp himself had 17 reps of the bench press in his combine. I think it’s safe to say Sapp thinks very little of the bench press.
And of course “Sapp only bigger and stronger” is nonsense hyperbole causing Sapp to laugh his ass off. McCoy has done nothing in his NFL career so far, and some scout is calling him better than a HoF DT?

Sapp became stronger in the NFL and did 36 reps at a NFL skills competition.

QBKILLA is right, of course.

Yeah Joe, pretty sure you need to be one voice, not a multiple personality! Just who the hell are we talking to? The one holding out all the good looking chicks, or the guy who keeps putting up pics of Jeff Garcia’s wife????
