Rich Gannon Not Sold On Mark Dominik’s Moves
March 16th, 2010Maybe it’s the fact he’s a Chucky acolyte and is angry at the Bucs for casting Chucky aside last year?
Maybe he lies awake at night remembering how he threw three pick-sixes against the Bucs in the Super Bowl?
Regardless, former Raiders quarterback and current Sirius NFL Radio host Rich Gannon is not sold on Bucs general manager Mark Dominik’s moves.
Speaking on “The Blitz” Monday with his co-host Adam Schein, Gannon fielded a call from a Bucs fan who defended Dominik. Let’s just say Gannon wasn’t drinking the Bucs Kool-Aid.
The caller noted about Dominik “so far his moves have been right. All the players he let go are out of football. If he wants to build through the draft, let him do it. Gruden never showed the patience to develop young talent. I think it’s stupid to sign 35 free agents. Make your picks and coach them up.”
Gannon didn’t totally buy it.
“I have no problem no re-signing a guy like Antonio Bryant,” Gannon said. “His contract was worth almost $10 million and it was almost wasted money. But spending only $79 million on payroll, that doesn’t show the fans you are willing to find the best available talent. Look at what Cleveland has done. They added some players that can help them. You cannot just do it through the draft.”
While Joe believes Gannon was onto something, he torpedoed his own case by invoking the moves the Browns made over the weekend. Exactly how did the Browns improve themselves by jettisoning quarterback Brady Quinn and replacing him with Jake Delhomme of all people?
Jake Delhomme!!!

Chucky acolyte, thats the perfect name for Rich. Since last season, he has been talking/commenting like he has something against Bucs and their coaching staff.

Hey Joe, have you heard anything about this? I was going to email it to you, but I do not see a contact link on the site.

It is about a possible trade with Denver.

Until someone reputable talks about a trade, Joe’s going to leave that alone. So far that rumor has about as much legs as someone calling into one of the local morning sports shows claiming they heard at Mugs Grill and Bar last night about a trade.

Rich gannon also last year atteneded a practice and said it was a poorly run practice. I agree Gruden did not have the patience to devolp young Talent that is why we had alot of Qb’s in and out of here, but Domminck’s moves needs to be questioned he signed Mcgown to a big deal before Ota ‘s last year then evatualy traded him , then sigen Leftwitch to a big deal , the Clayton deal is Icing on the cake espically since he let a productive Wr like Bryant walk. Speaking of people say Bryant was bad mouthing Freeman and causing INt’s I say if we were winning and he was productive it would be problem solved . We have Winslow on the team that has keept quiet but has a history to do the same thing Bryant did complain and point fingers he has not done it yet but another 3-13 season might make him do it

I think Mark Dominik is in a bad position. Considering what I have heard on talk radio and what I have read in the local papers and of course JoeBucsFan.com it seems that Mark Dominik is going through what Chuck LaMar when through with the “Devil Rays”. Chuck LaMar was limited in resources and made the best out of a bad situation. We will only know for sure how good Mark Dominik is as a GM in about 3-4 years. However, more than likely he will not be around in 3-4 years.

I for one am going to hold on to the one in a million possibility that the BM rumor is true.
As to Gannon, he is an idiot if he thinks what Holmgren is doing makes even the slightest sense. All credibility lost with that remark.
Perhaps the NFL will be kind and allow the bucs to open at home against Jake and the Brownies.
