Another Reason To Draft Tebow
March 1st, 2010Joe was glued to NFL Network this weekend watching offensive linemen run footwork drills, wide receivers run routes and all sorts of other scouting combine stuff.
Frankly, what the combine truly needs is cheerleaders. The cut-away shots to Eric Mangini just don’t do it for Joe.
Aside from fantasizing about the missing cheerleaders, Joe had happy visions of Golden Tate in a Bucs uniform (that dude is fast, strong, and lightning quick at everything). Joe also was also pretty stunned by Tim Tebow’s interview prowess.
Tebow did an on-field, football-in-hand interview with Mike Mayock, in which Tebow explained and physically showed under rapid-fire questioning how he has changed his throwing mechanics and footwork, and answered other questions.
While’s Joe is not a Tebow groupie, Joe was struck by how the kid is ready — right now — to step into the broadcast booth for a successful career.
He could probably make more from BSPN than he’ll ever make in the NFL.
Made Joe think for a fleeting moment how a potentially creative Bucs marketing department could use the kid if he were on the team. He could be snatched in the third round and dropped on the practice squad and plastered all throughout the Bucs’ broadcasts immediately.
Joe wouldn’t draft him. But there’s no question that Tebow could bring a lot of value to the Bucs. And he might just be a legitimate quarterback in a few years.

he will go first round…someone will gamble…it should be the bucs but definitely not with number 3…..i could see him going 20-25th on a team that doesnt have many needs…….even the saints….they pick him last in the first round…..and let him ride the pine for 5 years behind brees…then when brees leaves the kid will finally be nfl ready…someone will grab him….bucs should try and find a way to do it….adam from ny

Even at 3rd round, you are talking about a potential starter. If he is available in the 4th round, I would not mind Bucs getting him, any higher pick than that is going to be wasted. NFL stands for Not For Long, without starter’s reps, there is no way Tebow can become a better passer, but he can never get starter’s reps as long as Josh Freeman is here.
He could be a very good TE or a FB or a Tampa-2 MLB, but I believe he very much wants to be a starting QB in NFL at some point and even a 3rd on a back up QB when you already have a decent young backup is not a worthy investment IMO.
As far as improving ticket sales is concerned, not my problem. I visit games I can and but Bucs merchandise I like, other than that I don’t care about how much the owners make.

who is she?!!!

If you put him at wideout, I bet he could block like a MoFo. And score three touchdowns in five years.
Plus, he would have plenty of losses to break down in tears over………………………

Forget Tebow…draft the girl.

if he’ll bring the girl, draft him!

If the girl was not on a bikini, we would not even spend a second on her. Flatron, no thanks!

Joe don’t jinx us by suggesting a possibility of Tebow being drafted by the Bucs. I’m rooting for the QB we drafted last year in the first round, Freeman. Tebow will be a distraction and if he is drafted, in any round by the Bucs, it is proof that the Glazers are only in the business of making their money and not putting a winning product on the field. I garauntee that the coaches don’t want Tebow because they know they need Freeman to show improvement. 40,000 Buc fans, errrr, Gator fans clamoring for Tebow as soon as Freeman makes a mistake isn’t going to help.
Don’t get me wrong, I hope Tebow does well. Just not on the Bucs because I want Freeman to be even better.

@Tommy Boy, so true. There are so many morons I know that want Tebow to be Bucs QB and Freeman to be traded.
