Bucs Name New Receivers Coach
February 4th, 2010In the end, the Bucs passed on familiar names Ike Hilliard and Keenan McCardell for their vacant wide receivers coaching job.
Today they named Eric Yarber to the post, per the team’s official Web site. Last year’s assistant receivers coach, Tim Berbenich, will stay in his position.
Yarber’s been around the league for years and played receiver in a backup role for the Redskins, where he scored a Super Bowl ring when Doug Williams led them to the Lombardi Trophy in 1988.
Joe is a bit bummed that Ike Hilliard didn’t make the cut. As Antonio Bryant told Joe yesterday, he was a fan of Hilliard, too.
If Yarber can resurrect Michael Clayton — assuming Clayton’s here — he will go down as one of the greatest coaches in Bucs history.

Forget Clayton, Yarber will be great in my eyes if he is able to convince the Bucs to re-sign AB.

Notice the pic of the Eagles DB signaling incomplete that Joe attached to this article. If he knew the ball was going to Clayton, he could have done that pre-snap and not even moved.

Hey Jeff I made 3 million in salary last year PLUS another 3 million as a signing bonus PLUS 1.5 milion just because and IT’S IN THE BANK!

So Jeff do you THINK I really care what you say about me? I’m doing just fine thank you.

Yarber going to resurrect Clayton? He should call the coach from Necessary Roughness. “Don’t throw it to Featherstone”

Who in the heck is Eric Yarber? A college coach who coached in the NFL 10 years ago? He couldn’t teach TO how to stop dropping balls.
Raheem wants guys who won’t outshine him. He wants to be the boss in the room without any risk of being second guessed.

I heard the choice came down to either Yarber vs. Hilliard.
What made the final decision was that Yarber agreeded to take out the trash as well (he was implying that he’d be a “tough guy”) Problem was the Glazers took Yarber “literally”; the Glazers fired the current janitor and hired Yarber.
Guess you gotta watch what you say! 😉

If you read the Arizona Republic, Yarber was instrumental in a number of their recruits signing with the Sun Devils. Thats probably why the word didnt leak out until National Signing Day. It says a lot that the WR Coach was the deciding factor in having these kids pick ASU. I just hope the new WR Coach is old school and wont be putting up with the BS that Mann did.

“It says a lot that the WR Coach was the deciding factor in having these kids pick ASU.”
So he lied to the recruits? Left them at the alter?

Like the Tennessee recruits, lol!

No one lied. He is moving on. Besides all I care about is how he is going to coach our WR No. 1 draft pick, as well as Sammie Stroughter. I wish Michael Clayton and AB well in Oakland.

You all crack me up … So just who is the Saints WR coach ??? Who did you all expect ?? Irving Fryar ??

yarber came cheap and had nothing to lose as he is a bounce around type guy….just check his rezzy…..he had nothing to lose on being here for 1 year if the bucs stink it up and once again everything gets blown up….bottom line is we are not putting together an impressive coaching staff to mold this young team and that says a lot…adam from ny

“If Yarber can resurrect Michael Clayton”
Stop right there…
IT. WILL. NEVER. HAPPEN.

Except for Rich Bisaccia, no one will remember a coach on this year’s staff in 3 years. Who cares who they hired. I just hope that Morris takes Clayton with him when he goes.

The Bucs are shopping for coaches in the recycle bin, just as they are for receivers and the D-line. The level of investment just isn’t there. If Dominik sells the #3 instead of buying the player we need, that’s what you call an indicator.
February 4th, 2010 at 11:38 pm
you guys are all morons. Quick name me another WR coach in the NFL…besides Keenan in DC. You guys find anything to bitch about.
February 5th, 2010 at 9:28 am
Maybe the Glazers will give out brown paper bags to all 3 remaining fans on opening day, or maybe Clayton can just Drop them off.
February 5th, 2010 at 9:41 am
Nick, I could really care less about the other teams in the NFL, but the Bucs, so why would I want to know the names of their position coaches? I just worry about my Bucs and his resume is unimpressive to me.

Players get better not because of a coach, but the EXTRA time they put in before & after practice, off season etc working on their routs. What makes the Indy receivers so good is the extra work they put in with #18.
Like all things in life…you get out of it what you put into it.
