Anyone Remember Ronde Barber’s Interception?
February 9th, 2010Apologies upfront for this not being a Bucs video. But do you remember where you were when Ronde Barber intercepted Donovan McNabb for a pick-six to send the Bucs to the Super Bowl?
This cool video reminds Joe of that very moment. The video was taken in a New Orleans bar when Tracy Porter intercepted ADD-afflicted Gomer Pyle for a pick-six to win the Super Bowl Sunday.
Joe remembers being at Ferg’s on the patio when Barber intercepted McNabb and it was like a bomb went off. Joe never saw another play the rest of the game.
Joe also remembers seeing people running the length of Ferg’s patio bar, as if they were themselves blocking for Barber.
This video reminded Joe of that moment.

Speaking of Saints. Interesting article from PFT. Take this along with the note yesterday from PFT that Sean Payton told officials beforehand he was going to kick on onside kick. Huh…

But, bottomline they won, so they are now the defending world champions. Maybe now people will stop feeling sorry for them.

I remember specifically where I was. At Beef O’Brady’s on Himes near Busch Blvd. Had my giant Bucs battle flag from the previous week’s game. That was probably the single greatest moment in sports history. We didn’t calm down for a long time. Everyone knew it was a momentous occassion for the Bucs, the fans and Tampa Bay. The Eagles game was our Superbowl title and Ronde had just sealed it. We were unstoppable.

I was working the cash register at Kash N Karry…the express line. Luckily Miller Lite And Buddy’s teamed up and set up a display with a large flat screen tv that was set on the game. When Ronde caught it and ran it back I went nuts and did laps around the store screaming till my throat hurt. I was close to tears. What a great moment.

I know exactly where I was. It was the greatest time of my life. I guess we all need to keep those memories near because in my opinion the present owners could care less about winning. It has sadly become money first, winning second with these clowns.

Tommy Boy:
Just curious, were you getting any business that day during the game?

I instantly thought of the Ronde INT when it hit porters hands…..how happy i was that day and how happy saints fans must have been after that play.
I was living in NYC during the superbowl season. I remember being wasted and running up and down 3rd avenue with a bucs flag after the NFC champ game. Good times. I remember so much from that day, almost like it was yesterday…eery stuff.

And you survived!

SunRise Jeff probably saw many Eagles fans escorted to the basement jail.

lol without a doubt. Was me and my girlfriend at the time. Was very excited to get to the hotel and realize there was about 20-30 fellow buc fans there. Then realized they were all sitting on the opposite side of the stadium then us. Nothing like sitting down in my Bucs jacket, jersey and hat to have the guy next to me look at me and say “So your the guy who got my mother’s tickets huh?” After the pick he was leaving so I made sure to tell him to tell his mother hello and thank you! Good times!
