Kellen Winslow’s Hummer
January 26th, 2010Yup. You caught the headline. Joe is using a double-entendre. If used correctly, it’s good writing.
Joe is a fan of good writing. That’s why Joe worships the great Phil Mushnick of the New York Post. So please enjoy the lead paragraph to a feature story written about Bucs tight end Kellen Winslow’s Hummer.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offensive threat Kellen Winslow had been hankering for a Hummer since he saw it in a Robert De Niro movie, which is the kind of response any marketer would envy.
Nice. Sophomoric, maybe. But nice.
Winslow and his Hummer are featured in Truck Trend magazine.
When he was with the Browns, Winslow enjoyed driving with his wife from their Cleveland home back to San Diego to visit family. “Just so we could bring the car with us and the whole bit,” he says. “It takes about four to five days.”
These days Winslow likes cruising around Tampa in his H2 and is dedicated to the Buccaneers. As of week 13 of the NFL season, Winslow has 58 receptions for 633 yards and five touchdowns. The remaining home games for the season are December 13 against the Jets and January 3 against the Falcons.
Four or five days? That’s taking your time! Shoot, Joe once drove from St. Petersburg to Pittsburgh straight and he only stopped for gas/bathroom and once for a Subway sandwich. It took Joe 17 hours and he was totally shot but it sure didn’t take a few days.

He should have bought a Humvee instead…because you know…he’s a soldier…

Joe…Cleveland to San Diego is about twice as far as Florida to Pittsburgh. Besides, if your getting hummers in your hummer…why not take your time?

JDouble:
Joe’s aware of that. But four-to-five days??? Joe has driven from Florida to Chicago (and back) a few times, taking his time, and he did this in slightly over 24 hours one way (with an overnight stay in a hotel).
Besides, if your getting hummers in your hummer…why not take your time?
Fair point, which reminds Joe of a Naughy Gayle story…

Joe,
From Tampa to San Diego is ok. But I-10 is a stretch from Live Oak to Pensacola, and driving I-10 the entire State of Texas sucks bigtime.

Sure does! I am stuck in San Antonio right now, and everytime I go anywhere, it takes 8-10 hours just to get out of the state! Texas to BIG.

Love the ride. Its fitting for a big guy like him. Nothing annoys me worse 5’5 guys coming out of hummers. Pretty pathetic. Go K2!

Give me a break@ Mushnick is an idiot. The articles he writes have absolutely no facts behind them and are purely him just rambling on for no reason. What a joke!
