Yahoo! Sports: Josh Freeman Is A Loser
December 15th, 2009One of Joe’s promises since the inception of this site is to deliver Bucs fans news and commentary from around the interwebs, good or bad.
This item of note is not only bad, but bordering on irresponsible.
Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports has his winners and losers for the past weekend’s NFL games and he picks Freeman among his losers.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman
The running game didn’t help him, but Freeman had a continuation of last week’s awful five-interception effort. His three interceptions against the Jets scuttled any chance of a Bucs win. Freeman now has 11 interceptions in his last four games. With road games at Seattle and New Orleans ahead, and a home tilt against Atlanta, there may not be another win on the schedule.
There’s no way in hell Joe can lay the blame of the brutal Bucs loss to the Jets at the feet of Freeman. His offensive coordinator, sure. But not Freeman.
Look, what did anyone expect a rookie quarterback to do against Capt. Lou Albano’s pass defense? If anything, Freeman was set up to lose.

What happened to running the ball 70% of the time to help a new qb assimilate into the league…oh yeah we spent all our money on a pass catching tight end that can’t block and a blocking wide receiver who can’t catch……wait a minute, how much weight do you think Clayton could put on?

I disagree Joe with the statement that you can’t “lay the blame of the brutal Bucs loss to the Jets at the feet of Freeman.” Sure, Josh Freeman wasn’t the only person responsible for his terrible game and one could argue it’s mostly Olsen’s fault but Freeman missed wide open targets and overthrew some balls as well.

Joe, we said this would eventually happen. The honeymoon lasted 2-3 games. We do not have the guys around him, coaches included, for him to grow properly and be successful at a QB right now. Besides there is way too much BS at 1 SUC PLACE right now. And contrary to Gannon, we can’t sit him, either. However, the coaches do not need to make this game/offense too complicated. Sometimes play-callers get ahead of themselves and forget about what can be executed. I am not sure if Olsen got overexcited because of Freeman’s performance the first few weeks, but it is evident he needs to pull back on the scheme.

You do not have your rookie QB throw over 40 times against the leagues number 1 pass defense. Blame needs to fall at the feet of Olson whose coordinating is indeed offensive

Hopefully they do not ruin the kid. If the Glazer boys have any nuts whatsoever they would pull the plug on Freeman themselves and keep Freeman from getting messed up in the head and turning into a Ryan Leaf type. Letting Freeman Know he has been pulled for the simple fact that he will have a much better HC & OC next year to learn from. This also gives Johnson his chance to really hold the spot and maybe earn a roster spot somewhere for next season. Maybe as our clipboard holder. If the Glazer boys have not contacted any coaches yet. Shame on them and let the seats be empty at the CITS until they make a move.

Even Payton had these kind of days. I beleive he won 2 games his rookie year. I can only think of one QB that won right away as a rookie…Dan Marino…can anyone think of another?

Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco won their rookie years! Both went to the playoffs!!!

Props to Joe for not using Freeman’s play to start up the bust in waiting talk again quite yet.

Too many prima donna qb’s in this league. Here is another one who is better than the team, or at least he thinks so and so do his people.
