Bucs Noticing Improvement
December 8th, 2009Joe noted yesterday that he saw quite a few positive things out of the Bucs loss to the Panthers.
No, throwing five picks is not among the positive things. But consider:
* The Bucs racked up 469 yards of offense. Not too shabby… if you are able to put the ball in the end zone.
* After a dismal first quarter, the Bucs’ defense buckled down and held the Panthers to just one field goal in the third and fourth quarters each. That’s solid footall.
* Also, for the second straight game, the Bucs have held their opponents to less than 25 points, something that didn’t happen for six straight games. This rebound began when Raheem the Dream took over the defense.
The improvements are not lost on the Bucs, as documented by Woody Cummings of the Tampa Tribune.
For weeks Mondays at One Buc Place were downright painful. They still sting quite a bit, but the sting isn’t quite as bad as it once was.
Improvement will do that. It will take some of the sting out of the Monday routine, and in recent weeks the Bucs have shown some incremental signs of improvement.
Though they still aren’t winning, the Bucs have been moving the ball better and stopping it faster and as a result they’ve been staying alive in games a lot longer – in most cases, right to the end.
Baby steps. Baby steps. Now if the Bucs don’t screw up and win a couple of games, Joe can see Ndamukong Suh in pewter and red. What a beast that guy is.

I loved watching Suh in the Big 12 game against Texas. He would be a great get. I have to say, though, that Berry from Tennessee would be a great pickup as well.

Improvement, but not in the win column. Sorry, I’m not into moral victories — especially at 1-11.
And, I think I’m going to puke if I hear anyone else say “well, if the Bucs don’t win, they’ll get Suh” — like they shouldn’t try too hard to win any of these last games. Why the hell should we bother watching then?

Louie, I don’t think anyone is suggesting that the Bucs should lay down these last few games just to get Suh. They’re simply stating that IF we do lose out, we may have a chance at Suh. Unfortunately, it looks like the highest we’ll probably pick is 3rd, which leaves the team in an interesting position. Do we stay and take McCoy or Berry, or take an offer to trade down and hope we can grab McClain, Spikes, etc.?

Louie – at this point in the season are you REALLY expecting the Yuc’s to win?
Joe actually pointed out a few of the positive/bright spots with the defense but the offense play calling STILL continues to be offensive!
This season is shot and it’s time to get back to fundamentals – stop with the pass happy offense and just play good solid fundamental football.
Is it too early to look forward to the draft – yes and no.
Yes because this at least give the fans something to look forward to…
but no because with the current crop of crappy coaches it’s likely they’ll F_up the draft picks as well.
Rumor has it that if Radio drafts Suh it’s likely that he’ll cut him after the second preseason game. 😉

All I want for Christmas is to be able to log on to my computer to read that Rah has been traded to Cleveland for a Polish Boy sandwich.
