More Details On “The Plan”
November 22nd, 2009Rick Stroud, the St. Pete Times beat writer known also as the Mad Twitterer, is questioning Jim Bates’ job security today.
In his look at Bates’ results to date, the Mad Twitterer gets a little insight from Raheem The Dream on the grand master plan.
“The theory behind this is you’ve got to see what you have,” Bucs coach Raheem Morris said. “You’ve got to go out there and let guys play. If you sprinkle in a guy that’s proven, like a Jason Taylor, it has nothing to do with your long-term plans. It would be simple to go out there with a short-term plan and see what you can get done this year and see how productive you can be this year. But you have an ability to look for long-term solutions. We gave an opportunity to guys like Quincy Black and Geno Hayes to go out there and be the starter, get better and progress. That’s been the plan the whole time.
Now Joe didn’t just fall out of the sky and land in Clearwater.
Yo, Rah, please don’t tell try and sell this to Joe as you’ve only been looking for long-term solutions. What exactly was moving Jermaine Phillips to linebacker all about when you had Black and Hayes on the roster? Why did you waste the limited cash to go around on Byron Leftwich when you had Luke McCown?
Joe’s going to give you a pass on Angelo Crowell. But get Roy Miller his first start of the season already, if this year is truly about letting young guys “be the starter, get better and progress.”
And to use that same logic, your logic, surely young, improving Maurice Stovall will be your starter today in place of Michael Clayton.

Another example of Raheem speaking what he “thinks” we want to hear but only demonstrating how over his head he is regarding this team.
Hey Raheem – this is the NFL, not little league. You get 2 years at most before you’re on the chopping block. These guys are paid BIG BUCKS to produce here and now.
And to think I was upset with Jon! Forgive me football Gods.

I live in the now. Not 5 or 10 years down the road.

Raheem either has a severe case of Foot in Mouth Syndrome, or he’s a complete idiot. Perhaps it’s a little of both.

If that is THE PLAN, then you’d have to think the Glazer’s were on board with/made this decision when they made the change in command. Which leads me to believe they’ll give this group another year at least to show improvement. It works out great for Rah, because he’ll only need to win 3/4 games next year to show improvement from this one. 😉

I just love these comments. If all you know so damn much about football, why in the hell are you doing what you do, like selling shoes or whatever. Get a life people, its just a game.
