Best Game In Months

November 10th, 2009

The TBO.com twins of Woody Cummings of the Tampa Tribune and Dan Lucas of WFLA-TV Channel 8 discuss the Bucs win over the Packers Sunday.

Cummings goes so far as to suggest it was the best the Bucs have played “since the middle of last season.” The duo also take a brief glimpse as to the near-future fortunes of the Bucs.

That was the best game and the most pumped crowd in years! Last year the only game that came close in excitment was the Carolina win. That was exciting because we dominated them.

To me that was the most energy I have felt in that stadium in a long time. To me it equaled the excitment of the 1979 Eagle playoff game.

Cheers to all and especially Bucco Bruce!

    Joe,
My wife and I are season tickets holders for five seasons. I have to say that was the most FUN we had at a game. I agree with Cummings, between the crowd, music, great football, and everyone finally realizing that we had a QB who wasnt a bust….everyone got motivated. You actually saw the defense playing harder in the 3d and 4th qtrs, as Freeman made his awesome plays. All three elements of the team won this game, and all three motivated each other. Just take the plays in the Red Zone, with all of our other QBs since Brad Johnson, it was a pretty good bet we werent going to stuff it in unless Alstott ran it up the gut. But Freeman can actually run a play in the red zone…something Garcia couldn’t do, and Luke McCown had problems with. No easy out checkdowns, no multiple sacks, just rolling it out, and putting it in an accurate place only the receiver can get. Outstanding plays for the rookie. I think he is going to do alright.
BTW, my wife thinks that the Glazers need to package the sound track to the game and sell it. That was awesome 70’s music…everyone was digging it…between the Spinners, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Wild Cherry, ABBA, Bee Gees, Black Sabbath, Boston, KC and the Sunshine Band..all with the 70’s BUCs grounding it out. Man whoever put that track together needs to get a bonus.

    BucFan South Tampa:

Joe found the different music to be refreshing from the stale, over-used Ozzy Ozbourne’s “Crazy Train” and Metalica’s… whatever the hell that song is that is played a half-dozen times a game.

Joe was quite fond of the Van Halen songs played. Thankfully, Joe didn’t hear ABBA or he may have been thrown out of the stadium. Joe wouldn’t wish that upon an al Qaeda terrorist.

Sans the ABBA noise pollution — Joe would prefer to listen to jackhammers and powersaws — Joe wholeheartedly agrees whoever chose the music deserves a handsome bonus.

Statistically, it wasn’t that great of a game — in fact, it was pretty bad. But statistics are for losers. It clearly was great because of all the excitement and the fact that they won for the first time in almost a year.

Bucfan south, “and everyone finally realizing that we had a QB who wasnt a bust…” are you referring to his one start, cause one game does not make a career. While I feel he played ok, they could have started the other Josh and had the same outcome.

  6. Pete Says:

I am not sure Josh Johnson would have made those plays. Instead of looking down field while running and trying to complete passes (which Freeman did) he would have been running or dancing around. Clearly Leftwich would have been sacked. Freeman showed good pocket awareness, way better than veteran Aaron Rodgers showed.
