McCoy Cut; Bryant Concern Grows

September 26th, 2009

A former Eagles second-round pick in 2005, LB Matt McCoy was cut by the Bucs today for the second time in two years.

It doesn’t say much for the Bucs defense when one of your opening day starters at linebacker, Matt McCoy, is cut before Game 3 in favor of a practice squad wide receiver, Mario Urrutia.

That’s what went down today, as the Bucs prepare to be without Maurice Stovall and/or Antonio Bryant for Sunday’s game against the Giants.

Mike Florio, creator, curator and overall guru of ProFootballTalk.com, has a conspiracy theory about the McCoy move your can read all about here.

Joe is concerned about Bryant. Allegedly, the injury is just bone bruise pain, but that’s typically pain that can be played through, especially after one of those magic shots or funky little pills.

Bryant is in a contract year and can barely handle the financial demands on him with his $10 million contract in 2009, so he claimed months ago.

Joe assumes Bryant knows he needs a big season. Joe is concerned there’s more to this injury. The Bucs need him on the field.

Joe I’m not sure how to “read” this post – seriously.

Are you saying that Bryant is really SERIOUSLY injured (like 1/2 season type)

Or are you implying Bryant is just a whimp who doesn’t want footage of him out there without a chance to get the ball from Bryon “the human tacking dummy” Leftwich?

Also with the 9.7 million contract that he inked. Does that mean Bryant gets 9.7/20 (16 games + 4 preseason) or 445,000 per game even if he’s not on the field playing?

    Joe here,

Mr. Lucky, I’m not sure about Bryant either. Yes, he gets paid in full no matter what. He’s a franchised player.

I think this asshole knew his knee was bad BEFORE he signed the contract, which is why he was wanting a long-term deal here. He’ll sputter through this year barely playing, will move on to another team that will sign him to a long-term deal, then will go back to his old, lazy ways–this guy is a piece of shit as well!!
