“Josh Loves Josh”
September 11th, 2009Maybe Antonio Bryant isn’t the only Bucs player to refer to himself in the third person.
Josh Freeman could be another.
Joe is guessing based on Ronde Barber’s words to a sports gossip reporter in the British newspaper Guardian. Barber did a Q & A for the U.K. rag, which like other publications there will not be kind to the Bucs if they have a dreadful record entering the game in London against the Patriots.
Right, down to the important stuff, what plans have you got to mess with (Tampa Bay’s first-round draft pick) Josh Freeman? (Laughs) When Jon and (previous coach) Tony Dungy were here they didn’t let us haze rookies so I haven’t been hazing for years but we’ll find something to do. Josh – he’s a heck of a talent – but Josh loves Josh, you know what I mean? He considers himself a good looking kid so we’ll find a way to get on that. As the star cornerback and the oldest guy on the team, so I think it does fall on me to get at him.
Joe isn’t surprised that a first-round quarterback pick might come off as a little too cocky and a little too pretty for a veteran’s taste. But Joe also believes Barber’s comments could be a negative indicator of Freeman’s leadership potential.
Joe really doesn’t care how much Freeman might like to look in the mirror, as long as he chalks up the victories.
