Gradkowski Could Beat Out Garcia In Oakland
September 4th, 2009Joe found this must-share nugget buried in a story by Steve Corkran of the Oakland Tribune.
It seems former Chucky project Bruce Gradkowski and Charlie Frye might cost Jeff Garcia his job with the Raiders.
Cable seeks to determine which player is the best option as the No. 3 quarterback.
Cable has said that he won’t carry four quarterbacks. He has not said that Garcia’s job is safe. Therefore, it’s conceivable that both Frye and Gradkowski could make the team if they play well enough tonight.
Frye and Gradkowski make less money than Garcia, 39, and they are considerably younger and capable of helping the Raiders beyond this season.
The Raiders’ final preseason game was last night and Gradkowski played pretty well.
Joe will be a little stunned if Garcia joins the ranks of Ike Hilliard, Warrick Dunn and Derrick Brooks, key cogs in the 9-7 Bucs who can’t find a job. Nobody could have predicted that back in December.

Hey Joe think about this nugget – take all the Bucs “older” rejects and hire them to play in the UFL – Orlando. There’s a built in fan base. I’d go to see Derrick play.

I’m thinking about the nuggets in the picture of Carmella. I’m sure Joe is too.
