Tie Goes To Leftwich?
August 26th, 2009The Mad Twitter, aka St. Pete Times Bucs beat writer Rick Stroud, is at it again.
He’s using his Twitter account, in which he labels himself an esteemed NFL writer, to drop a small bombshell of Bucs news.
His most recent Tweet pretty much says that McCown must outplay Leftwich on Thursday to win the starting quarterback job, which implies Leftwich has the edge in the race.
Unless Byron Leftwich has a poor outing and Luke McCown is great, McCown and/or Josh Johnson will be on the block. Prefer Freeman No. 2
But wait. Hold on. Stroud earned his nickname, Mad Twitter, months ago, for telling fans not to believe anything they read on his Twitter account because he only publishes real news on TampaBay.com.
Remember? He scolded his followers for sharing his Tweet about the Bucs interest in Marvin Harrison.
Whew. And for a moment there Joe thought the fix was in for Luke McCown. Thank goodness it was only one of those bogus Tweets by Rick Stroud.

Leftwich is our man he tied in the competition!!! What an endorsement.
Fantastic, what a state of affairs. Start Freeman for goodness sakes and end this madness.

It is starting to seem like Morris is trying to resort to whatever he can to convince others that Leftwich is suddenly Mr. Reliable with his poor QB attributes after his mediocre Career. I am sure he is a nice guy and all but we have seen how he plays and what he can do and it is hard to believe for many (and a little scary) that he is the best of the 4 for the job.

perhaps this will come down to who will be easier to bench… if mccown stinks it up early and gets the hook it may seem as though he didn’t get a fair shot. While, if lefty sucks (i hope he doesn’t) he could be benched in the first half of the first game and few will say he didn’t get a chance, due to his previous jobs… maybe a stretch, but entirely possible i think.
