More Drops For Clayton

August 17th, 2009

Even Raheem The Dream acknowledged that Michael Clayton has trouble catching the ball

It’s got to hurt when your new head coach tells the world you’re not a great pass-catching wide receiver.

Raheem The Dream spanked Michael Clayton in just that way Monday in an interview with Steve Duemig on 620 WDAE-AM. Raheem The Dream said Clayton dropped two passes in practice Monday and that’s “the M.O. that’s been killing him throughout his career.”

Ouch!

Joe’s heard many people try to make excuses for Clayton’s hands of stone — blaming Chucky, injuries, etc. Joe never buys any of that garbage.

You’re a wide receiver, Clayton, catching the ball is No. 1 in your job description.

It’s no secret Clayton is the highest paid blocking wide receiver in the NFL. Clearly Raheem The Dream knows it, too.

Joe’s just hoping Antonio Bryant can come back healthy and the Bucs don’t settle on a No. 3 receiver, but actually find a guy who can push Clayton and represent a deep threat.

Yet they overpaid to sign him in free agency, basically competing against themselves. Clayton continues to make excuses instead of owning up to the fact that he is just not a great WR. And with Bryant on the shelf, this guy #2, we could have Tom Brady at QB and we’ll still be 3 and 13.

I hope he gets himself together and rises to the challenge. He has a lot of potential, just hasn’t quite lived up to it yet. And if that doesnt pan out, we still got Winslow who is basically a receiver himself with hands like glue (just hope he can stay healthy).

So, between Clayton’s drops, Freeman’s interceptions, McCown’s Happy feet, and Leftwich bouncing 10 yard rockets off the receiver’s helmets, it should make for a stellar offensive performance this Season….and JJ being released and picked up by the Steelers. Tomlin can just tell Raheem “What goes around, comes around” and “Sorry about your luck”. McCown = 2 – 14. Lefty = 4 – 12. Freeman = NFL follies reel every week. Josh Johnson = Run Forest Run or 9-7, again (groundhog day).

BigMac-Are you trying to say Josh Johnson would lead the Bucs to a winning record?

    BigMacAttack:

Why exactly would the Steelers want Johnson?

I don’t know, I’ll resort to anything to keep JJ on the team. No really, did you guys watch the Giants vs Panthers last night? OMG, the Giants are ferocious. They said the other night that Raheem signing leftwich put a strain on the Tomlin Morris buddy buddy thing. I was just saying that might be an opportunity for Big Mike to pay rah back, by signing JJ if released. I think JJ is better than leftwich. I think JJ would make an excellent backup. JJ has nice pocket presence and his passes are on the money. He is 6′-2.5″ and has good field vision. The Bucs have a super tough schedule this year and we all know that, but I think their best hope to win right now is JJ. He is dangerous, like Mike Vick but has much better arm control than Vick. I don’t kow id he can chucnk it 75 yds like Vick, but I bet he can throw it 50yds. Winning record, yes I think he could lead this young team to a winning record, at least I thought that before Tjax got suspended. At least he will miss the first 4 games and not the last 4. If the Bucs cut JJ, they may cross his path again, and I fail to see any downside with the kid. I also was a big Pat White fan and he’s only 6′. Thanks for calling me out guys. I’ll own it.

OMG, I just read that, and I swear I haven’t had anything to drink today.
