Expect Clayton For Preseason Home Opener
August 12th, 2009Joe got a brief moment with Bucs wide receiver Michael Clayton after Bucs practice Tuesday evening. Of course Clayton confirmed he won’t be playing against Tennessee when the Bucs open preseason this weekend.
That should be the only game Clayton will miss he said.
“Yeah, I’m out this week,” Clayton said. “But I’ll be back next week. “
This is both good news and bad news for the Bucs.
Good news is that the Bucs should have both starting wide receivers healthy by the Dallass game. Also, a lot of reserve receivers should get plenty of opportunities to display their wares and make the club.
Bad news is, especially for Luke McCown this week is, if McCown has a lousy game, how much of it will be because of younger or not as talented receivers not running correct routes or dropping passes.

You must be unfamiliar with “the plan”. Raheem Morris doesn’t want players to catch the ball, he wants players to yell at the ball while it flies by to intimidate the ball and to show how much of a killer they are. It’s the next best thing since knives aren’t allowed on a football field.

Look, for how many years have our wide receivers been thrown inconsistent passes. We have been saying that Tampa has no receivers, but how many passes were behind, or made the WR sit in the zone and wait. Atlanta had no receivers till they got a real Quarterback, now they have probowlers. We need a real Quaterback to determine what we have.

I agree with the last comment! Way too mant times we watched passes being under thrown or thrown behind the recievers. I think Clayton can be the guy he was his rookie year again. Lets see what happens this year, who knows how good our recievers can actually be?

Ron Nado, you do realize Clayton’s qb(s) his rookie year were Griese and Simms? I do agree with the last couple of years though with no-arm Garcia(Byrant fair-catched so many passes he should have been on special teams).
