After Further Review …Nothing
August 28th, 2009Of course, Raheem The Dream and his staff poured over game film this morning.
Raheem The Dream has that Chucky-like work ethic, as do many of his assistants. Sleep is but an annoying necessity between meetings and film study for these guys.
And now, after all that review, and all the months prior, there’s still no decision on a starting quarterback. Raheem The Dream told the media today he’s just not ready yet.
Joe has to ask. What’s going to change over the next few days? The film is the film. The coach’s evaluations are clearly made. Raheem The Dream already admitted he has his unspoken preference.
Very puzzling. And a little troubling.
Joe can’t help but remember when Bryan Glazer talked about making the decision to fire Chucky. He said he consulted Bucs fans as part of the process.
Is that what’s happening now?
No matter how many times he’s been asked over the past few days, Raheem The Dream won’t say ownership is not involved in the quarterback decision-making process in some way.
Per Buccaneers.com, asked today whether he will inform the Glazers about the quarterback situation or consult them, Raheem The Dream said “For the most part it is information for our ownership. They like information just like you guys do. You own the team; you don’t want to read in the paper about how your quarterback is.”
Joe is troubled by him saying “for the most part.” Either the Glazers are involved in making the decision or they’re not. There is no middle ground.
Hey, maybe the Glazers have some great insight. After all, they’ve been NFL owners for roughly 15 years. However, Joe would much prefer they leave the decision 100 percent up to their football men.

methinks a trade is afoot…

It does not matter who starts. The guy who gets the starting job will only be a punching bag until the other team calls of the dogs. Then Freeman will do mop up duty until the Bye-week. The real winner will be the guy who is not selected to start the season or is traded.

How about working a deal to the Vikings to get Sage Rosenfeld ?
Anyone……..
Hello……

Raheem wants Leftwich. Glazers want McCown because they already paid him. I think its pretty clear at this point that the Glazers have a say in it. Think about what we’ve heard from the coaches. Raheem has his unspoken choice. Jags said to the media last night that he doesn’t have a say in the process. That leaves Olson and the Glazers. If Jags doesn’t get a say, even if Olson does it doesn’t seem like Raheem solely has to please him. That only leaves the Glazers and we all know the Glazers are hurting for money.

If the Glazers are keeping us from starting Leftwich, then by all means I hope they are getting involved. Start Freeman! And stop (not you joe) telling me he’s not ready, because neither is Leftwich.

If the Glazers want to consult the fans, all they have to do is play last night’s tape. Leftwich was boo’d off the field at least twice. He’s a bum. Cut him now.

leftwich is a bigger jopke than morris..why dont you call it like it is black coach black qb they both suck.

JLynch are you kidding me? First Morris has yet to coach a meaningful game yet, so you are off base to say he sucks. I’m sure your super bowl ring and induction in the hall of fame as a coach allow you to make such a “wise” assessment of Raheem’s style before he has even coached a season. The face that you entered RACE into this when there is clearly no race issue at hand, screams of you having some deep seeded racial issues. Biggot or not you are still a boob. Byron Leftwich has a winning record as pro, more TDs then INTs, and the players apparently play harder for him then Luke (white/black). Thus if I’m a coach and I got an option between two guys (Byron/Luke) who for all purpuses are fairly even, I’ll take the Vet who has at least won games for the short term till Freeman’s ready. I was rooting for Luke but the kid never stepped up. Everyone likes to point to the Saints game years ago! He also was terrible against San Fran the following week, as well as Arizona. No one ever mentions that. Let’s come on here and comment about football and leave your incoherent racist BS in your trailer park.

I think a trade or some BS is about to go down. Something smells like shit and I don’t think it’s Joe after a long night of Caybrew. I can only hope that this indecision and amateur mentality the team is rolling with just means that although we will suck this year that next year we will have the real coach like Cowher or Shanahan, theres a couple of other names that would work as well. It looks as if it will be a long hard season but one with a silver lining— A high first round pick and a real head coach to pick it.

Sgt Mike; I like the sounds of that, A ‘REAL’ Head coach. Bill Cowher would be perfect, in my opinion, but I would be excited about Shanahan or anyone that knows what they are doing!
