Another Sign Of The Bad Economy
March 16th, 2009Joe never had a problem with Jeff Garcia at quarterback. Joe certainly never had a problem looking at his wife, Carmella (and from feedback we receive from JoeBucsFan.com readers, neither do you). And Garcia did a good job with the Bucs, and few played with more guts.
So it is a bit surprising that Garcia, a free agent, can’t seem to get a job offer. Crying for a decent quarterback, the Vikings grabbed career stiff Sage Rosenfels instead of a proven winner like Garcia.
This has to be frightening for Garcia. But maybe it suggests teams are truly hurting from the rotten economy. This is a premise indirectly tossed out by BSPN’s Len Pasquarelli.
Perhaps his age, 39, and his itinerant background — Garcia has played for five different franchises in six seasons — are culprits. Maybe the travel tags have become baggage. Yet it seems teams clearly want to get younger at the quarterback position — but not necessarily better.
Younger isn’t always better, true. But younger is quite often cheaper. And that, friends, is why Joe thinks Garcia isn’t getting any action from NFL general managers.
Let’s hope, for his sake, Garcia is getting some action away from the negotiating table.
Good morning Bucs fans!

You are welcome Rick. Joe rather enjoyed the video himself.

It sure would be nice if Jeff Garcia came back next year. To start not start. Whatever.
