Bucs Have More Problems Than Defense
December 10th, 2008Joe isn’t sure how many visitors take the time to read JoeBucsFan.com analyst Steve Campbell’s solid job of dissecting the Bucs offensive line each week, but do yourself a favor and read his offering last week.
After reading that, keep in mind what Woody Cummings of the Tampa Tribune points out. Cummings noted that in the “disturbing” loss to the Panthers, Jeff Garcia was sacked five times. In the past three games, the Bucs offensive line has allowed 15 sacks. Prior to that — in the first 10 games — the Bucs averaged one sack a game.
It’s pretty obvious that someone has figured out how to get to Garcia.
As Campbell explains last week, some of these sacks are due to Garcia scrambling right into defenders who — had Garcia stayed in the pocket — wouldn’t have layed a finger on him.
Joe isn’t trying to dismiss the recent sack totals but there may be a cause and effect not totally related to lousy blocking.
Joe isn’t sure what the root cause of Carmella lying the beach is, but he isn’t overly concerned, either.
