Joe’s Take: Meaningless Victory
September 15th, 2008So the Bucs beat the Falcons 24-9 on Sunday. (Joe told you to wager)
But what was learned from the victory? Absolutely nothing. Everything you can take away from this game is what we already knew:
- Brian Griese is a capable backup QB who won’t make anyone forget Jeff Garcia
- Rookie QB’s not named Marino or Elway are overmatched against the Bucs defense
- Earnest Graham and Warrick Dunn are sharp, ready and underused
- The Falcons will struggle to win four games this season
- The Bucs vertical passing game has yet to take the field
- Dexter Jackson slips and falls a lot
That about sums it up. This Bucs team – and its 18 penalties in two games – remains an enigma.
Tampa Bay’s game at Chicago next week should reveal much more.
