Nice Job Rook!
August 26th, 2008It’s official: Aqib Talib is the starting Bucs nickel back.
Woody Cummings of the Tampa Tribune breaks the news that Talib, the Bucs first round pick this April, will begin the season as the team’s nickel back, just as the team had hoped for. But first Talib had to win the position.
“As of right now, yes, he’s our third corner,” Bucs secondary coach Raheem Morris said Monday. “But who knows if he’s going to stop there. If he keeps playing and fighting and improving, he could be a starter in this league for who knows how long.”
This warms Joe’s heart. Joe really believes the Bucs defensive backfield is quite possibly the team’s strength. Few teams have as deep a secondary as the Bucs.
