Khalil Mack Visited The Bucs
April 23rd, 2014Yes, one of the most ferocious and feared defenders in college football last season made a visit to One Buc Palace yesterday.
This afternoon in the Bucs’ locker room, Joe talked to one of Khalil Mack’s best friendsĀ and former University at Buffalo teammate, Bucs second-year defensive end Steven Means. Joe and Means talked a lot about Mack, and Means revealed that Mack made an official visit to Tampa on Tuesday.
Could Lovie Smith be wowed enough by Mack to not take an offensive player in the first round? It’s possible, though doubtful Mack will be available with the No. 7 overall pick.
Mack, however, is billed as a strongside linebacker/edge rusher. That’s hardly a pressing need right now for the Bucs, and it’s unclear exactly where Mack’s greatest strengths may lie within a 4-3 defense.
Regardless, he was here.

QB isn’t really a pressing need either but some would like to see the Bucs draft one. I think Mack will do well in the NFL and hope if he is available at #7 the Bucs find a trade partner (win-win if say we trade our first round for Buffalo’s #9 in the first and their 4th round pick, even if the Bucs have to throw a 7th rounder out to make it happen). Then draft BPA to address needs like OT or WR

Sorry to post another thread, but lmfao hahaha check this out:

Bust, bust, bust. Also a cry baby that is not committed to his craft. Good riddance you pretty boy, non accountability having Freemadonna!
I’d draft Mack in a heart beat. He’s a future stud, and perfect compliment for LvD.

If we draft Mack that high, he simply cannot come off the field.
LVD is far too good to even entertain the idea of him coming off the field.
If somehow we end up with Mack I would be absolutely thrilled if they were both on the field every down and every distance. What a combo.

I would like Sammy @ 7….but I certainly wouldn’t be unhappy with Mack (I don’t think Lovie could resist)…..neither will likely make it to 7…..in which case, I like Evans or trading down.
We need the absolute BPA at 7 and I really don’t think any of them will be QBs.

I am beyond ready for the draft, the NFL knew exactly what they were doing by moving it back 2 weeks.
Bastards, man.

VON MILLER!!!
If he falls he’s ours!

I would have no problem drafting Mack at 7. He can play SAM on 1st and 2nd down then rush from the left side on passing downs with Gholston (if he is the starting left end) moving inside. Cassillas and Fletcher can play the roles of Hayward and Watson on special teams.

You can never have enough rushers, especially edge rushers who can also play linebacker.

Mack + Lavonte….I see no issues picking Mack at all. As needed as OL or WR? No…but still that’s got strong potential to be the best LB combo in the league, possibly even by far.

My #1 favorite pick the Bucs could make. Even over Sammy. I am yet to see a decent Bucs pass rush just yet, so this still ranks as a high need pick in my book.

I keep thinking he’s perfect for a 3-4 and not optimal in the 4-3.

if mack is there at #7 , you draft him , period , end of discussion.

As much as I want Evans I am starting to think they maybe going after the TE Ebron. I have not watched much film on him but heard a lot of mixed opinions on him. Seems like we may be throwing the ball more to our TE’s than receivers. Hard to guess right now. Draft is getting closer!!!

He could succeed with his knuckles in the dirt. He beat ohio st. fakeyes Linemen badly. I’m pretty sure the Bucs have plenty film on him since the scouted and drafted Steven Means last year.

If Mack is on the board at #7, I would be shocked if they did not take him. It doesn’t matter what this guy’s position is; he’s a game-changing play-making pass-rushing x-factor that D coordinators would have to account for. Imagine McCoy, David, and Mack in a front 7 that also includes Michael Johnson and up and coming LDE Will Gholston? Frightening. This is the player I want in round 1.

There’s absolutely no way Mack is still there at 7 barring a cornucopia of trades for QBs. If by some miracle he’s there then we will absolutely take him and he can play ILB and be Patrick Willis 2.0. We need more speed at ILB for this defense. TEs are much more athletic now than they were even 3-4 years ago. Urlacher was an OLB coming out and I’d say he turned out ok.

What else did Means say about the guy, that’s it he came to visit? He had to say more…

No way Mack makes it to #7. He might go #1 to Houston. He is the most fluid LB moving forward or backwards. Will be a starter from day 1. The idea of pairing him with LaVonte would be like Urlacher and Briggs together in their prime in Chicago. And Lovie was the mastermind behind that duo. I would be ok with missing out on Derek Carr for this kid.

Me too; I like Mack a lot.
