DeSean Jackson Talks About His Love For Tampa

November 1st, 2018

Talks Tampa love

Yes, DeSean Jackson was talking this week, a matter of hours after the NFL Network report he asked to be traded.

But it wasn’t to media. Jackson darted out of the Bucs locker room yesterday when media arrived. He was, though, talking on his DeSean Jackson One On One Podcast.

Jackson discussed how emotional it was for him to break Jerry Rice’s record for the most career touchdowns of 60 yards or more. It happened Sunday against the Bengals and Jackson said it didn’t really hit him until long after the game.

Jackson talked about how from the time he was a young child, his late father always used to tell him the NFL would never see a player like him. With this record, it was as if that talk from his dad all came alive and true, Jackson said.

As for his team, the Bucs have a “back-against-the wall mentality” now and he knows what a good position the team will be in with a victory Sunday at Carolina: 4-4 and 2-1 in the division.

A fan caller referenced the reported trade request and his chemistry with Ryan Fitzpatrick, the reinstated starting QB.

Jackson wouldn’t go there but adamantly expressed his love for his current home and that he has many years of good football left in him.

“I love it here in Tampa. You know, I’m raising my family. My family loves it down here,” Jackson said. “I love the weather, love the beaches. There’s a lot to do, but it’s still a low key quiet place, as well, too. The city’s embracing me, man. And I appreciate the fan support and all the love. Hopefully, man, I can end my career here. Retire as a Buc, man, that’s what I look forward to. And hopefully bringing a Super Bowl to Tampa Bay.”

So there you go. D-Jack is a happy man, a Tampa Bay man.

  3. Onetrickpony Says:

If he loves it here why did he ask to be traded than ?

  4. go for the face30 Says:

Random off topic – Hey Joe, remember how you were mocking the idea of taking Quenton Nelson all offseason. A guard that high?! PSSHHHH.

This isn’t the Bucs fault at all and had no control over this, but I bet you think “THE VERY FIRST GUARD TO EVER WIN OFFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE MONTH” would look good at RG right about now huh instead the complete utter turnstile trash we have there currently.

It’s all good though, we have Vita Vea! So everything will be A-OK

  5. stpetebucsfan Says:

More of these stories are on the horizon for more players/coaches if we don’t start winning.

As Koetter says…nobody cares about squat in the NFL except victories. Just win baby and ALL of this goes away.

    What are the odds?

  6. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

Well DAMN, after I just went and lit DJax up on another post!!!

As someone who is very proud of Tampa Bay… these words from DJax mean a lot, and I definitely appreciate them.

I have other concerns with #11, but we will let them lie for now. I really do appreciate his expressing those words.

  7. Jaywill Says:

Put Fitz in or trade me.

  10. sandwichman Says:

Wow what a fake arse person! SMDH. He should’ve been traded! Heck after that load a garbage he just fed us, I would’ve given him away. I hate fake arse people. Say what you mean for a change.

  11. Joe Blahak Says:

according to the last game stats, Djax had the 4th most plays for wideouts…a #4 WR? Why? if he’s sitting on the sideline that much, why isn’t he at least doing the punt returns? He’s a dangerous punt returner…Bucs need to use this weapon as much as possible..

  12. LakeLand Says:

    For $11 million dollars

    He could actually love Lakeland

  13. Bucs fan #7423 Says:

    Get this man a QB!!!

  14. CRABMAN Says:

    LOL lakeland

    and how much for Mulberry?

  15. TOM Says:

Jackson is pretty good but not worth 11mil. Besides the Bucs won’t be able to afford him. Next man up. Wish they could trade him rather than lose him to FA

  16. Simeon Says:

It’s because fitz is starting, Tampa is a terrible place to raise kids if Jameis is starting.

  17. The Real Malloy Says:

    Simeon….LOL

  18. 813bucboi Says:

you those rumors were false…..wonder who leaked them(philly philly)

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!….#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

  19. Buc believer Says:

    Whatever! Whiny little BEATCH!!!

  20. Jerry Jones Says:

At least he’ll have a QB that knows how to get him the ball.

  21. Hawk Says:

“If he loves it here why did he ask to be traded than ?” ROTFLOL! Do you have reading comprehension issues, or did you not read the article that started this?

“… Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, who has been known for questionable reports, claims today that Jackson has asked for a trade…”
I’ll repeat the important parts in case you have trouble connecting the dots.
“… who has been known for questionable reports…” and “… claims…”.

I bet that some of you think we had a President named Thomas Dewey.

  22. lambchop Says:

The fact that Fitz is his QB is why he loves Tampa again. Anyway, I don’t blame him for being pissed off with the situation. He’s always been a dynamic and explosive player and it sucks when you run your as$ off every game for nothing. The dude was wasting away with Jameis. He didn’t come here to catch 8 yard slants and outs.

I’m glad he came out and embraced the community. If we can sort the QB situation and get an above average D, we’re going to be moving on up. There is absolutely no other team with the talent of receivers that we have when you include both TEs and the depth at WR. We’re an average QB, stud RB, and an upgrade at RG, RT away from being the best offense at all positions in the league.

It’s a new day in Tampa Bay when the offense is better than the defense. It’s just sad that even with the heavy dose of defense this off-season, our porous secondary is ruining everything. Oops, forgot to address the secondary did we?

What does the news about the Bucs trying to trade for Landon Collins say about the trust the Bucs coaches have with Justin Evans and Jordan Whitehead? Landon isn’t that much more of a veteran, so you can’t really use that angle.

  23. SchwiftyBuc Says:

I honestly wish we had never signed Jackson last season.

  24. Slugglife Says:

    Why would that be Schwifty?

I thought we needed deep threats. He’s shown he’s just that, burning the asses off of DBs. Hell do it again this weekend.

As I always say- losing is so ingrained in this fan base it’s sickening. I hope DJAX blows the brakes off of Carolina this weekend. You’ll be cheering for him.
Do your thing Jax. Can’t stop the haters.

  25. adam from ny Says:

think back to the 80s…add djax to dan fouts and the air coreyall offence and it would have been wild…with fitzie in there, djax should go hog wild every sunday…

    #JameisLetMeHearYouYellSundayOnceMore

  26. adam from ny Says:

    offense*

  27. RatPackSports Says:

Listen people just because its being reported doesn’t mean its true. Especially around the trade deadline. I actually like DJax here and since he’s been here he’s a model citizen. Also there people who are trying to connect the dots and pin Jameis struggles solely on DJax. You are wrong Winston struggles are on him. Not a wideout who he doesn’t throw to and also can’t hit on the deep ball accurately. Fitz has no problem finding him in the same offense and also the same offensive line. So what’s the problem again?
