Fields the Mike Smith question
It didn’t take long during Dirk Koetter’s postgame news conference for the head coach to field a Fire-Mike-Smith question.
Koetter fired back a reply — and it didn’t defend Smith.
“Based on that game today, we couldn’t make enough changes,” Koetter said. “We should fire every person that was on that field today starting with me. That was horrific.”
Later on, Koetter called it a total team loss.
“Mike Smith didn’t make any tackles and turn any guys loose on coverages,” Koetter said. “We got beat in all aspects of football today, and coaching as well.”
Koetter didn’t have much positive to say about the game, though he was upbeat about Jameis Winston getting a chance to shake off some rush.
Pressed to detail defensive failures, Koetter said, “We couldn’t play zone. We couldn’t play man. … They had 400 yards of offense at halftime.”

I wholeheartedly concur Brother Koetter. Pack your bags..and your road-dogs Smitty too. Take Licgt along with you. This loss was the biggest embarrassment of NFl Sunday..for the week. How much longer are we Bucs fans gonna have to endure this pain..This BullSh..! Seel the team..Do something. But stop defending Mr. Pressbox Smitty!!

NEPOTISM AT IT’S FINEST! There’s nothing Smith can do in Koetters eye’s that’s actually a fireable offense. It’s one of the main reasons I wanted Koetter gone after last year. He’s loyal to a fault. He’d rather go down swinging with his best bud at his side than actually do the right thing and get rid of a guy who is so obviously incompetent.

This guy wants to go down loyal to Mike Smith. Well news flash for you Dirk, coaching the way he has coached lately, Mike Smith will not be getting a job in the NFL no time soon. He will be like one of our Dline players from last year, can’t get a job this year, yet we were the last team that employed him.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. GET THE MAN OUT OF HERE. Give the defense someone to rally behind otherwise Dirk will be saying the same thing when he is fired in a few weeks after a continued losing streak.

Every year we hear about communication on defense. During the 5 game winning streak, we heard the defensive players say the great defensive effort was due to improved communication.
This year, the players say “once we get our communication down, we will be great”.
If communication is that difficult, it needs to change. If Mike Smith can’t change it, he needs to go. It’s as simple as that.

Yup, It’s clear that Dirk absolutely will not fire his buddy. The decision needs to come from the top. Unfortunately, Glazers don’t have a track record of this kind of thing, so I doubt they’ll have the balls to do it now.

To stupid to understand that if your guys aren’t getting your defense than it’s something wrong with the teacher. If a teacher in school gives a test on a subject they taught and all their students failed then yea ok your not a bad teacher you just have dumb students. Here is the problem you have nothing to say about yourself or your coaches.
How about the fact that you had one of the worst defenses in the nfl when you were sitting at 2-0? There were few missed tackles or blown assignments in the first two weeks and you still stunk. The scary part is the coach probably made changes to the defense. Pathetic answers from a pathetic coach but don’t worry it will be your last as a nfl head coach no needn’t to fire mike smith because you’ll be packing your bags too

Mike Smith didn’t make the tackles and didn’t cut guys loose, but if you can’t coach your players to play better than this in the 4th f-ing game of the season, then what exact purpose does Mike Smith serve?
If your players can’t be in the right place making tackles and communicating – that’s a coaching problem. Don’t blame the players. I hope the players have a mutiny after that comment by Klueless. There is no confidence in Mike Smith’s scheme. Things have to change. F Mike Smith and F Koetter. It’s time the Glazers put in the call to Licht to pull the plug if Koetter is a pansy.

We outscored the Saints and the Eagles, but that formula doesn’t last. The Steelers put up 30 on us and the Bears 45. Our defense is just as bad as last year, even with the addition of new players. Strongly suggests coaching is the problem.

I believe you are right. They had to force Dungy to fire his OC (which turned out to be a mistake), and Koetter is just as loyal to Mike Smith.
They need to tell Licht to do the deed, or do it themselves.

I sat in Soldier Field this afternoon and there was no excuse for this. This was simply getting out executed. There were people running wide open and except for a few instances, there was no pressure. Mitchell Blanking Trubinsky three for 6 tds on your defense. Let that sink in. Defend that Dirk and put it all on the players. The defense of town it is not right it needs to be across the board, but those individuals are not as bad as the sum of the parts Mike Smith has put together.

I’m going on vacation as a fan. I love my team but this kind of crap isn’t worth the mental stress. Maybe the team should be completely gutted. The freaking guy holding the bandaids on the sidelines along with the water girls and cheerleaders need to get pink slips. Just wasted 200 bucks on a jersey last week and I’m soooo regretting it right now. I really think the organization should reimburse me. They are advertising a nfl team but are giving us a football team that couldn’t Win a Delaware high school state championship.

The Falcons defense blew another 4th quarter lead. It won’t be easy for the Bucs defense in Atlanta. The Birds know they need to blow teams out to win now.
Will the Birds fall to 1-4 against the Bucs?

The wheels feel like they have fallen off. Sure we’re 2-2, but this sure feels like we’re the same team that played the Pats tough last year and then proceeded to poopy the bed for the next 10+ weeks. The Steelers game=Pats game. Not to mention, I’ve never seen a D play as consistently confused and gutless as ours has under Smitty. Yes, Lovie was bad, but Smitty has sapped it all from this group.
Licht too should take a long hard look at the Bears team and see the word BLUEPRINT. They axed a dinosaur HC and brought in a young innovator to maximize the potential of their franchise QB (tailoring the playbook/scheme to his strengths) and paired him with a legit DC. Then went out and drafted smartly and went hard after the best player in football who is worth a lot more than they gave up for him.
What did we do? We went after Mitch Unrein and Beau Allen. We doubled down on Grimes. We drafted CBs that are slow (hey but one has great length) and a rookie DT finally debuted and looked two steps behind every other player once the ball was snapped. He was over powered and out leveraged every single down I watched him play. I hope to heck that he can move with a lot more quickness or we’re in trouble.
Let’s talk RBs too- I mean, considering everyone at OBP seems to not value the position, we are trying to play NFL football with a practice squad RB, a smurf who was out of the league for a reason and a rookie that may supplant Dexter Jackson as the worst 2nd round pick in team history. LOOK at the BEARS JASON/DIRK. They use their backs to take pressure off their QBs in a dynamic way- by moving em around and feeding them the ball in space – not wasting them as personal protectors/pass-blockers.
Why can’t this team every progress- ever? It’s stagnation-regression- stagnation- regression…and it stinks.

I agree with most of what you say Frank. However I will disagree that Rojo will go down as the worst 2nd rounder. That honour goes to (and always will go to,..) Roberto Auguyo. Licht should have been fired for that alone.

The Bucs passing on Derwin James to Draft Vita Vea will turn out to be 100 times worse of a move by Licht than drafting Roberto Aguayo in the 2d round.
Not saying Vea won’t be any good, just not as much of an impact as an elite secondary player. Joe has said this before, run stuffers in the NFL grow on trees.

Fire Koetter hes the one letting this stuff happen. The past 3 seasons we have been blown out multiple times by halftime. That just means the whole team is under prepared. In every game it was the offense and the defense and thats on Koetter. Licht needs to be held accountable too this was mike Smith’s and Koetters identity in ATL. They had all the talent in the world a better coach comes in and takes them to the Superbowl. That’s because Irv’s friend Author Blank falcons owner got tired of having a SOFTTTTT team.
