“They Can’t Play Man. They Can’t Play Zone. They Can’t Really Get After The Passer The Way They Want To.”
September 20th, 2018Smart video preview of the Bucs-Steelers game here from a couple of guys who really know what they’re watching.
And the consensus is the Steelers’ defense is brutal.
Former college QB and Browns, Eagles and Ravens scout Daniel Jeremiah teamed up with his fellow NFL Network draft guru Bucky Brooks, the former NFL defensive back and returner, to look at Monday night’s match-up.
Jeremiah says he can’t deny the obvious humming of the Bucs offense and picks Tampa Bay to win. Brooks is aghast by the Pittsburgh defense. “They can’t play man. They can’t play zone. They can’t really get after the passer the way they want to.”
There’s plenty more in the video including good film looks and Brooks’ pick. Enjoy.

Nobody ever wins the game on paper. The Bucs need to show up and play 60 minutes. Not 45 minutes then retreat into a prevent defense.
Go Bucs!

Change our history Bucs!
Win a big game in primetime, on the road and an opponent we’ve only beat twice in about ten tries.
Then, keep your head down and be lethal.

I want to see Monken with the foot on the gas pedal all night. Time to make a statement & put the entire NFL on notice.

Bucs better bring it. This has the making of a trap game.

Pretty hilarious how so many people said the Bucs were done before the season started. Now the Bucs are 2-0, scoring a lot of points on a division champ and the SB winner, and now everyone’s jumped on the bandwagon.
Man,what a time to be alive and a Bucs fan.

Winning this game will change everything.

They can still run. Must keep that in check this week. We CAN win this game…come out sharp, especially on special teams and we’ll be in a good place. Go Bucs!

@Howard Cosell … “TRAP game if there ever was one.” Totally agree with you Howard. Still think the Bucs will win this one thanks to our deep-strike weapons, but it won’t be pretty. Our DLine is pretty well banged up right now, especially if Allen can’t go (not counting on Vea to dress for the game) and JPP has an injured knee that must impact him to some degree (kudos for playing through it though, he’s a warrior).
Still concerned about our Secondary being as young & inexperienced as it is (not sure how much we can count on Brent Grimes just yet). Thank heaven that our offense is relatively healthy AND that our QB is finding the holes in our adversaries’ defenses. Ben Roethlisberger might be an ‘old man’ according to some, but he’s still dangerous as all git-out. Personally hope that we stay the hungry underdog. One game at a time … don’t look past ANYONE Bucs.

Every game is different. Every play is not the same. Every individual matchup is different. If we don’t play with a sense of urgency we lose. We turn the ball over we lose.

It’s going to be another very physical battle. I’d really like to see us be able to gut them with a few good runs and we’ll have to do a better job stopping the ourselves. We’ve had a few good leads so our rush defense hasn’t really been exposed but it’s definitely something the Steelers have seen on tape. Two pretty poor defenses this thing could be another shoot out with all the great skill players on both sides.

TRAP GAME! Don’t drink the Kool Ade!
This Bucs defense is bad!
An old football coach used to preach: Nothing is as good or as bad as it seems. The Bucs O looked great, but can they maintain it? Very difficult. The Steelers D looks bad, but are they as bad as they look?

How is it a trap game, the Steelers are favored.
You need to know the meaning of words before you use them.
September 20th, 2018 at 7:42 pm
Well the Bucs can defend the pass no matter if it’s zone, man, or 14 guys on the field, so it’s a fair matchup. Foles put up 334 yards and he looked terrible, so think what someone who doesn’t look terrible will do. Oh wait, we already know from week 1.
One thing the Bucs do have in their favor is the very real and unexplainable Big Ben road collapse. Statistically speaking the guy is awful on the road for some reason, and that includes going against some very bad defenses. If you play fantasy you know how bad he is on the road.
So you have a terrible pass defense vs a guy terrible on the road, what will give?!?
September 20th, 2018 at 8:09 pm
Big Ben never gives up. He will drop back 50 times then scramble if he has to. So we gotta be ready. I like our chances. But the key will be our Defense. Our Offense will score.

1-0 in the only game that mattered. I think McCoy and Dotson might be the only players on the roster from the last time the Bucs took an L from the Steelers in 2010. Even the W the Mike Glennon put on the Steelers in 2014 is completely irrelevant.
