Defensive coordinators across the NFL are figuring out how to defend Bucs starting receivers Mike Evans and Cecil Shorts.
Well, Joe’s kidding about the latter.
It’s all Evans when it comes to Bucs receivers producing.
Dirk Koetter noted this week that the absence of Vincent Jackson is sort of helping Evans, not hurting him when it comes to attention from defenses. No Jackson, per Koetter, means the Bucs have moved Evans around more making him less predictable.
America’s quarterback, Jameis Winston, was asked today about Evans getting all kinds of extra attention.
Per official team reporter Scott Smith, Jameis responded, “Not to sound cliché, but that’s his job. He has lots of heart.”
Joe is applauding. Yeah, Evans is a stud getting loads of attention, but that’s life of a superstar receiver in the NFL, even just a solid No. 1 receiver.
Evans is simply doing his job — and doing it well.

Mike Evans is the next Andre Johnson. That’s a compliment to Evans and an insult to the Bucs, btw.

still alot to hope for in this team… watched winston presser today and his confidence and positive demeanor put me a better mood about the team… will be a tough road but i think the team will finish strong

Joe, how can you keep calling Jameis America’s QB? He’s a mediocre level player still learning the game with terrible mechanics. And I really don’t see the Bucs helping him at all. It’s time to lay off the moniker. He’s just another in a long series of QB’s for the Bucs that has a giant question mark hanging above his head.
Hell, Josh Freeman played lights out in year 2. Jameis has regressed.
