Contagious Jameis
November 23rd, 2016Joe laughed for about 20 minutes when he witnessed the “Bucs Rewind” video on Buccaneers.com of America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, dancing and chopping the air and bobbing to the tomahawk chop just prior to kickoff in Kansas City.
Jameis really is a little kid getting ready for his Saturday morning Pop Warner game, only he’s doing it in the NFL.
Sometimes veteran players can only take so much of the rah-rah stuff and become cynical to youthful enthusiasm, like what oozes out of Jameis.
But that’s not the case for Bucs center Joe Hawley. When Joe asked him today about how Jameis was getting stoked by hearing the warchant just prior to a road game, Hawley said it geeks up the rest of the team watching Jameis.
“Just the way Jameis is every week [he] brings a lot of energy to the team. He is our leader. I mean, he is always fired up. He loves football and it rubs off on all of us every week.”
It isn’t just players fired up because they’re around Jameis. So too does Bucs coach Dirk Koetter, who confessed in his press conference today he’s getting old.
“Jameis motivates me,” Koetter said.

Winston is all that I had hoped. He’s really starting to get it and I think the game is slowing down for him. It was evident in the Chiefs game when he calmly came to his 2nd and sometimes 3rd progression. NFL films broke down several grat plays that Winston made. The O Line played their best game of the year and D Martin made his presence felt in pass protection. Joe Hawley is a baller and I’m thrilled to have him. The guy refuses to let injuries keep him out of games. This is really starting to get interesting. December football and we are still in the hunt. Good stuff.

The way Jameis and Aguayo played at Arrowhead I think we should adopt the Seminole war chant for Ray Jay and table the TAMpa – BAyyyyy!

As amazing as beating a vgood team is. The fact is that this happens every Sunday. But never to the Bucs. We have been unable to beat vgood teams since 2003. We beat the Eagles bad last year. Then 2 weeks later the Eagles beat the Pats. Any given Sunday. Putting up a hellava fight against the Seahawks on Sunday. Showing some consistency. Will give them the confidence to win 4 of the last five. Hopefully putting them in the playoffs. A vivacious beating would make the KC win look like a fluke.

@ Dave Pear: Like you, I’m a day one Bucs fan. It hasn’t always been easy or fun to be a Bucs fan, but old habits are hard to break. I wouldn’t change a thing. Thanks for bringing back some fond and not so fond memories. Once a BUC always a BUC. GO BUCS…
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
