“Influential”

Power broker in NFL circles.

You like lists. Joe likes lists. We all like lists.

You want to know who else likes lists? Advertisers! Why? Because we all click on lists!

Which brings Joe to this: theMMQB.com has a list of the 100 most influential people in the NFL. As one can imagine, since the Bucs haven’t done squat in years, there aren’t too many listed under the employ of Team Glazer, but there are a couple.

The highest-ranked member of the Bucs is none other than America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston. Per the compiler and stenographer of this list, Gary Gramling, Jameis comes in at No. 70.

70. Jameis Winston, Quarterback, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Preseason: 25)
Those expecting the worst from Winston, the No. 1 overall pick who entered the NFL loaded with baggage, didn’t get it from the rookie. He was solid on the field, looking like a future franchise QB. Off the field, aside from a painfully unfunny crab legs joke on draft night, his rookie year was thankfully uneventful.

The crab legs photo was not a joke. Nice try. It was a thank you to the famous guy who shipped Jameis free crab after being drafted.

The only time Joe has ever seen affable Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht miffed (outside of seeing him after a loss) was when he was grilled by an out-of-town reporter about Jameis posting the thank you photo up on Instagram. Licht let out a loud sigh and retorted, “Look, if someone at [name of establishment redacted] bought me chicken wings, I’d probably post a thank you photo on my Facebook page.”

Just about everyone knows the Bucs are Jameis’ team. But it is still cool to see that even though Jameis has yet to guide the Bucs to the playoffs, he wields weight in NFL circles.
