2016 Ring Of Honor Pick Comes Friday
January 20th, 2016Team Glazer is hurling its curveball for the second time this month.
On Friday afternoon, the Buccaneers will unveil their 2016 inductee for the Buccaneers Ring of Honor. Usually, the announcement comes later in the year. In 2015, Mike Alstott and Doug Williams were announced in May.
Why the early call? On a Friday afternoon, too, when most people have their minds on the weekend.
Joe has no clue. But Joe suspects it could have something to do with the availability of the Ring of Honor inductee(s), and a desire to not let the decision leak out before the official announcement.
Hardy Nickerson would be a fine, fine choice — before he moves back to his California home and/or starts coaching for the 49ers.

January 20th, 2016 at 3:20 pm

January 20th, 2016 at 3:23 pm

January 20th, 2016 at 3:25 pm
Speaking for Pablo
“Pablo votes for Jeff Garcia”
January 20th, 2016 at 3:35 pm
I hope its my favorite player Rhonde Barber!!! even though he might be in the Tampa2 mafia??? not sure, I have not heard his position on the matter!!! But that is how the Tampa2 mafia works, in the background and in the shadows!!!
January 20th, 2016 at 3:36 pm
They’ll wait for Ronde to get into the HOF like they did with Sapp and Brooks
January 20th, 2016 at 3:37 pm
Wilder and Lynch
January 20th, 2016 at 3:45 pm
LYNCH!
January 20th, 2016 at 3:45 pm
Wilder is a good choice as well.
January 20th, 2016 at 3:46 pm
Here’s my list of potential future Ring of Honor (Buccaneers Hall of Fame): Wilder, Carrier, House, Reggie Cobb/Rhett (both were primarily short yardage backs, nothing spectacular, but perhaps enough “stats” to get into our HOF), Dunn, Brad Johnson, Keyshawn Johnson, Dave Moore, Galloway, John Lynch, Tony Dungy, Rich McKay, Jon Gruden, Simon Rice, Ronde Barber, Hardy Nickerson, Donnie Abraham, Mike Washington, Cedric Brown, Ricky Reynolds (throwing him, but he’s not a strong candidate),Karl Williams, David Logan, Shelton Quarles, Richard Batman Wood, Tony Mayberry, Cadillac Williams (overcoming two severe knee injuries), Gene Deckerhoff (yes, he deserves to be in for his passion, love, and dedication through all the lean years with this franchise, and perhaps like some of the other older players on the list should be bumped up due to his age), Gramatica (not big on kickers, but one of our best along with Husted…if you had to choose a kicker), Steve Wilson…..
January 20th, 2016 at 3:51 pm
Wilder or Lynch.
January 20th, 2016 at 4:00 pm
I also vote Wilder. My second option is Carrier. I loved that dude. Both of them in fact.
January 20th, 2016 at 4:22 pm
Wilder or Dungy
January 20th, 2016 at 4:24 pm
Would be hard for the Bucs to make the call but Dungy is one to consider. I will always remember his first press conference and Tony talked about turning the Bucs into a condender, comparing the team to the 49ers, Steelers. At first I laughed then noticed he was serious.
Tony could not win the big one but he sure turned long time losers into a quality team.
January 20th, 2016 at 4:30 pm
Seems this is starting to get watered down a little bit. No complaints with who is in there now. Though not sure why we had to put two in the same year. Who says we have to induct someone every year. The late, great Ricky Bell would be a good choice though. Lynch and Ronde in due time.
January 20th, 2016 at 4:34 pm
How about Karl “the Truth” Williams? lol!! Definitely think Kevin house and jimmy Giles are strong candidates… Think they miss out this year though because they don’t have the same name recognition as some of the others do
January 20th, 2016 at 4:36 pm
Bell unfortunately passed away, too soon….we’re looking at the franchise’s “hall of famers”…
January 20th, 2016 at 4:39 pm
These discussions always bother me especially at this point. There are just too many guys bunched too close together. Yes I’m happy somebody gets the honor but along with that will be a half dozen or more deserving guys who are left out.
Just the nature of the beast I guess.
January 20th, 2016 at 4:48 pm
Right on Bucco Brice “wilder…DUE” Way over DUE!
January 20th, 2016 at 4:56 pm
Malcolm Irving Glazer
January 20th, 2016 at 4:58 pm
Gene Deckerhoff
January 20th, 2016 at 5:02 pm
@Joe
Any truth to the rumor that Coach Koetter is going to be inducted as the greatest coach in Buc history???
January 20th, 2016 at 5:03 pm
Its gotta be Wilder. And btw, Giles is already in there.
January 20th, 2016 at 5:12 pm
Courtney Hawkins or Wayne Haddix
January 20th, 2016 at 5:15 pm
Father Dungy?
January 20th, 2016 at 5:26 pm
Probably John Lynch – the timing is to get his name in front of Hall of Fame voters as early as possible.
January 20th, 2016 at 5:35 pm
Bring back Vinnie!!!
January 20th, 2016 at 5:44 pm
It better be Jameis Winston!
January 20th, 2016 at 6:06 pm
It’s John Lynch.
January 20th, 2016 at 6:14 pm
Wow. Someone listed a massive watered down list.
I say Giles Wilder Barber Lynch Nickerson Dungy
After that, not much left without severely watering down and I’m not so sure about Rice and Dunn
January 20th, 2016 at 6:49 pm
Wow. Just looked up the all time stats.
Winston, Martin, and Evans will all be the all time leaders in a few short years.
January 20th, 2016 at 6:55 pm
It better be James Wilder!
January 20th, 2016 at 6:56 pm
Wilder, of course.
January 20th, 2016 at 7:27 pm
Wilder. He gave everything he had on really bad teams. Probably would have been Hall of Fame on anything bit the 1980’s Bucs.
Doubt the Glazers will do that though.
January 20th, 2016 at 7:58 pm
@Buc Realist. You’re such an idiot. Your favorite player spells his name Ronde, not “Rhonde” as you think. Exposed again as a fair weather, change your tune fan just to feel good about yourself and blast people.
January 20th, 2016 at 8:01 pm
Wayne Haddix….Lmao!
January 20th, 2016 at 8:32 pm
Some huge fans here. Some don’t know Giles is already in and think Rice isn’t worthy. Rice should be considered HOF material much less Ring of Honor. Name a better def. end when he played. Hell…he should be considered for the Ring based on his quotes alone. Word up fools!
January 20th, 2016 at 8:34 pm
p.s. my vote is for Chris Ford…best cracker receiver in Buc’s history!
January 20th, 2016 at 8:48 pm
James Wilder Now
January 20th, 2016 at 8:49 pm
NIHILIST
I forgot Giles was in, not a big deal.
Simeon probably belongs but I think he is borderline. If he gets in the Quarles should and Dunn and then you just start watering it down.
Just opinion.
Simeon would be a no brainer if he played more than 5 good years here.
He probably deserves it
January 20th, 2016 at 9:10 pm
Just saw a post on another site. They claim an insider leaked it is Lynch. God bless Johnny. Tampa remembers you! Next anouncement.. Canton!!
January 20th, 2016 at 10:15 pm
Lynch can wait his turn, Wilder is way past due.
January 20th, 2016 at 10:36 pm
Rice was a card before he was a buc.
i say you have to bleed orange or pewter.
To make the honor. imo
January 21st, 2016 at 1:28 am
Iggy !!!!! Best place kicker and mobster ever
January 21st, 2016 at 6:23 pm
Sir, Joe wrote about Mr. Lynch long ago. And Joe isn’t hear to be Mr. Scoop. Joe writes about what Joe finds interesting. –Joe
