Mike Evans Tweaked Groin & Oblique Muscles

November 6th, 2015

MikeEvans2Mike Evans had one ugly drop Sunday in Atlanta, and it cost him more than just embarrassment.

Evans was in a revealing mood on his Total Access show on the Buccaneers Radio Network last night. He explained that he injured his groin as a result of awkward movement because he couldn’t squeeze a perfectly thrown football.

“My groin, if I wouldn’t have dropped the pass I wouldn’t have hurt my groin,” Evans said. “Yeah, I dropped the pass and I turned before I secured the ball. And then the guy pushed me, and I tried to stop myself and it like tweaked up a little bit on me.

“I just gotta catch the damn ball, man. That’s pretty much it. I gotta catch that. Those things on the move, when I’m in a dome, I don’t know what it is. All my drops this year from the dome. I’m not blaming it on that, though.”

Evans also added that he injured his oblique muscles extending for a catch against Atlanta. “It felt kind of like my ribs were broken,” Evans said, but the sharp pain steadily subsided.

In the postgame locker room, Joe noticed Evans walking strangely after he was in street clothes. But that’s not uncommon for any NFL player.

Regardless, Evans practiced all this week and seems good to go, even if he’s prone to various muscle issues.

“If it’s not broke, man, I’m going to try my hardest to play. That’s what it is,” Evans said. “All guys around the league are banged up. I’d be lying if I said people weren’t. But that’s just how it is. You got to play through it. That’s why we get paid the big bucks.”

Are you listening ASJ. Get your soft ass out there and help your team out. They need you!!!

  2. Buccfan37 Says:

In other words, Evans is saying he can’t do everything, he is only one player. Everybody else pick up your game and he will give it his all . That assorted injuries may limit his effectiveness. If he makes it through the season able to run he will be lucky.

We need VJax back pretty badly. And agreed, BucMania, it’s time for ASJ to get back on the field.

  4. HorseForce Says:

I like Evans but id take another receiver in the draft. Jackson isn’t going to last forever and Evans hasn’t been stellar this year.

  5. Simpleasthat Says:

ASJ has been a total bust trade him already.

That’s what I’m talking about son, rub some dirt on it and walk it off.

All I know is the messiah damn near broke his ankle in the PS and he didn’t complain once. Can’t wait until our 21 year old QB’s toughness rubs off on everyone in the lockerroom.

To whom much is given, much is expected.

If don’t play…..we’re screwed come Sunday

  8. Newbucsfan Says:

Like I’ve said, ” I always want to shake him and scream at him to man up and shut up.” Sorry mike nothing personal!

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @Newbucsfan

Perhaps it would be more effective for you if you hugged him and whispered in his ear……”man up Mike”…..

  10. Newbucsfan Says:

    Tbbf

Probably so:) but since I’m only 5″3 I’d think I could reach his ear:)

That’s what I am talking about! “here’s a guy” (in my chris collinsworth voice) who takes full responsibility for his errors. The bad part is the groin injury, two things you never want to hear from a WR is a hamstring or groin injury and he has both.

Man up ASJ, everyone plays with injuries. He is losing the respect of his teammates every game he sits on the sidelines. Jason witten played with a sprained knee and ankle, man up bro!

TBBF….lmao I can’t stay away from JBF for too long when we have posters like you still on this site. Thanks for the much needed laugh, my favorite optimistic Bucs fan on this site.

Steve Smith, Sr. says, “Ice up, son!”

  14. Bucs Fan Since '76 Says:

WTF kind of shoulder injury keeps you off the field for 2 months? C’mon ASJ.

  15. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Thank you for the update, Joe. I knew something was ailing him, and was hoping it would not be anything too bad.

We’ve gone from 3 WRs to 1 in the last week or so. It sucks. Losing our final good one would suck more.

  16. Buccaneers4Life Says:

Is Evans talking right to ASJ on this??? Evans is basically saying no one in the league is 100%, but still giving their all for the team to win…

  17. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Newbucsfan

@5’3″…..you might have to whisper to his tweaked groin…..while you’re at it….tweak his other one…..that way he would play balanced……

  18. Newbucsfan Says:

    Tbbf

    Careful as you go!

  19. Pick6 Says:

keep those muscles hydrated and loose, kid

  20. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Mike Evans cryptic message to asj (lower case on purpose). You’re getting PAID!!! Get out there and play. If Winston doesn’t rub off on him, nothing will!!!

Maybe Alterraun Verner can play WR? Even if Mike Evans does play, he is far from healthy. Why doesn’t Keotter use Charles Sims on every down as a WR? Better yet use Bobby Rainey as a wide out. We are going to need “all hands on deck” to beat the Giants.

    leader…

  24. Matt Says:

Wish he would quit trying too jump on corners and lbs . His routes he wants too run are all deep routes with straight away speed. Not a lot of skill just athleticism .
