Mike Evans May Have Squeezed Matt Rhule Out Of A Job

January 10th, 2022

Set the table for Mike Evans?

Is Mike Evans a coach killer? We may find out today.

Yes, Joe saw the many reports that said Carolina coach Matt Rhule would return for the 2022 season. But Joe was blown away by something Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians said in his postgame remarks about how the Stinking Panthers were going to defend the Bucs, specifically Mike Evans.

“We knew going in that [Rob Gronkowski and Evans] were going to have a lot of single coverage and Tom [Brady] did a great job – [Gronk and Evans] both did a great job. I’m glad we got all of those things done and a big win,” Arians said.

Why was Joe blown away? Well, over the weekend Joe came across a stat that showed Evans, along with DK Metcalf and Ja’Marr Chase, led the NFL in touchdowns against single coverage.

Now if some stat outfit knows this, surely an NFL team does. So why exactly does Stinking Panthers head coach Matt Rhule not know this?

By the way, Evans scored two touchdowns yesterday, his 13th and 14th of the season, good for second-most in the NFL.

Look, Joe isn’t anti-Rhule. Joe just thinks he’s done an awful job in two years at Carolina. And today being Black Monday, he may be out of a job later.

However, if Rhule is stupid enough to allow his defense to play single coverage on Evans, Joe is begging Stinking Panthers owner David Tepper to keep Rhule. That would mean two cakewalk wins for the Bucs every year Rhule is still in Carolina.

We will see, Lombardi was talking about Matt staying on for another year, BUT the owner of the Panthers seems to be aggressive. So all bets are off. I am sure the owner will kick the tires on Russ Wilson or any other QB that he could try and lure to Charlotte let alone a new Head Coach. So again, we do not know how the owner will make his decision, but I do not think the loss to the Bucs has anymore to do with the decision then a whole lot of other things concerning the Panthers.

    GO BUCS!!!!

Some well placed balls from Brady allowed Mike and Gronk to go in Beast mode after the catch. They just wanted it more.

The Saints took a beating by the Panthers, something the Bucs have not come close to doing for many years.

    Just saying……

    GO BUCS!!!!!

LOL, I hope he stays because the Panthers have become such a pushover since he took over.
I actually started feeling sorry for them yesterday, as Brady carved them up, then my Son reminded me that these are the stinking, hated Panthers!

  10. Winny Testaverde Says:

Keep that geek Rhule around! Tepper paid him a boatload and isn’t ready to incur the sunk cost…yet.

  11. Bird Says:

    If bowles does move on

Fangio and/or zimmer would be nice replacements

That picture captures it perfectly!! He always has that look on his face like he just caught a whiff of something bad. I guess that’s why they are called the Stinking Panthers.

And if you’re going to be fat and poorly-dressed, the least you could do is shave.

  14. Bobby M. Says:

If Carolina’s strategy was to lock in a pick as low as possible, then single coverage would make sense. It actually shows a bit more polish than what Lovie displayed when he just started yanking everyone to tank for Winston.

  15. Listnfrmafar Says:

I like the guy and his passion and think he was delt a shatty hand of cards but to start the season the way they did and finish the way they did, he probably deserves to be fired. Drinking the Cam Newton koolaid was his demise.

  16. HC Grover Says:

Jags coach is getting better as he nose dives in to the turf. The Jags manhandled the Dolts while we dismantled the Puddy Tats in the second half.

  17. Jerry Jones Says:

Rhule was already extended thru next year. It’s common knowledge, Joe.

  18. Cobraboy Says:

The Kitties would be fine with a decent OL. The more I see Darnold play, the more I think he could be a credible NFL QB. He has an arm and good wheels…behind two of the worst OL’s in the NFL.

  19. Rod Munch Says:

If you build your team around a running back, and that RB gets hurt, and you don’t have a legit QB, you’re going to lose.

Unless Rhule is the GM and made the decision to pass on a QB in the draft and trade for Darnold, which meant not only the picks but picking up his 5th year option, then it’s hard to blame the guy that much.

If you don’t have a QB, you’re not going to win. It’s that simple.

Teams fire coaches way too quick anymore. Unless you know you have a gutless wonder like Dirk, you should generally give guys more time to get things turned around. The exception is when a guy is truly hopeless, which means they have a franchise QB but still can’t win.

I have been a Panther fan from day one but I want be anymore if Rule stays

  21. Andrew Says:

I’m done with panthers cam newton ,and Matt rhule,,, coach can’t coach on NFL level,,,,, cam and his fashion shows non fumble recovery the team is a joke Tepper,,, laughing stock. Fans dropping like flies

  22. Listnfrmafar Says:

Rod you just describes Indy. Taylor wasn’t hurt but they shut him down.

  23. Christian Says:

Unless Carolina gets rid of Matt Rhule and bring in a coach with NFL experience and a top caliber QB we will continue too be the laughing stock organization.
